Looting leaves 2 dead in Argentina-link to article Its not as if some looting surprises anyone in Argentina anymore. Its pretty much a fact of life for Argentines. But it has been three days now of widespread looting across the country, from Buenos Aires and its suburbs, to smaller provinces as far as Bariloche where incidents first started.
As always supermarkets, gas stations and smaller stores are favorite targets by looters and there’s also been reports of assaults and robberies as well. Two people have been killed in Rosario during the lootings and the government is deploying military personal across the country so as to protect supermarkets and avoid the “contagion” effect. This could be described as the perception that the authorities have lost control of the streets and everyone feels it’s a “free for all” time when looting can go unpunished. Unfortunately that observation isn’t far from the truth.

You have a small space. Put your storage food under the beds, lots of room there.
With hussein biting at the bit to ban guns, isn't it amazing that those evil gun grabbing conservative preppers are patiently waiting in long lines at the gun shops instead of rioting and having shootouts in aisle three. You know the msm is crying in their sushi they can't print those headlines.

Having that knowledge can save yourself and others: I’ve told about this situation before: When Hurricane Ike came through, the regional hospital here lost power with the rest of us and THEIR GENERATOR DID NOT COME ON. Critical patients had to be taken to San Antonio, a five hour trip. If something happened to you during the 5 days without power, you were not going to get medical care.
Plus, cell phones and walk around house phones did not work. You couldn’t call 911 if you or someone in your family needed care. Ambulances were not going anywhere since no one could call 911. The only exception to that was if a person had an old type phone that plugged directly into the wall. In that case you could phone someone in the area that also had that type phone or you could call outside the hurricane area.
The bottom line, is, when power goes out, you can’t depend on ANYTHING working - not even your hospital.
Take a look at your budget as well. Do you have a cell phone with a data plan? Going to a feature (dumb) phone will save you about $30 per month. Do you have cable TV with all the bells and whistles? Going to basic cable can save you some $$$ as well.
Please don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to preach. Just ask yourself a question with regards to your finances. What is more important to me?
If you choose to spend on item “A” rather than on preps, then item “A” is more important to you than survival.
As an aside, you can store quite a bit of your preps under your bed(s).
A few, but still not many. Just yesterday, on a board I sometimes visit just to remind myself how the other side thinks, I got ticked at their "oh, I'll rather just die than stock my pantry" and their "oh, anyone who owns a gun is scary" and "I'll just move in with a crazy prepper if anything happens." They can't recognize an economic collapse could be their own personal job lose and they'd be without during a snow storm. None of them listened. They never do. They laugh at zombies when they are the zombies. The best lesson I've learned from Katrina and Sandy is that the zombies won't have the sense to get out of the cities so they won't be an immediate concern.

After Ike came through, I had no power but my phone worked and my son in London was able to call me to see how I was and a friend in the Texas hill country also called to see if I was okay.
I had no power but I had a TV that worked, a phone that worked, a radio that worked and I could hear Houston TV channels over that radio, lights that worked and fans that worked, and a way to cook hot meals inside my house and outside my house. I was fine.
Under the bed, behind and under the couch and under the livingroom chair. Depending on your coffee table and end tables, there can be storage under and inside them. Think multi-purpose when you're in the market for furniture such as an interesting old trunk can be used as a coffee table and provide storage. If the door to the bedroom opens 90 degrees against a wall then there is room to put 6" shelves from floor to ceiling behind the door for smaller how-to books, canned goods, water, canisters, etc.
When on a budget, think second hand instead of buying new. Browse through thrift stores and yard sales. If a friend is throwing out something that you could use in prepping don't be hesitant to ask for it. Knowledge is power so as others have said, learn some new skills. Most knowledge and skills are free. If there's a free how-to at the hardware store then go. If the nursing home is having a quilting bee, take a plate of homemade cookies and sit in with them. Look up your county home extension office in the government pages of your phone book or online because they sometimes give free demonstrations for home canning, etc. and they'll have free info packets and are there to answer your questions. The library has meetings and lectures that are free to the public. Make the library and youtube your best friends for how-to books and videos. If your neighbor is doing a home repair, go over and ask to help so you will learn how to repair your own house.
I think so. Argentina will have to kow their population like Venezuela has pretty much done.
In this country, it won’t be pretty when the welfare checks starts shrinking because there is nothing left to loot.

One of the best ways to prepare is to purchase things that save money while making you healthier.
For example,you can buy a grain mill and some grain from www.waltonfeed.com
Then you can make your own multigrain flour for a fraction of what they charge in the store. If you are lazy, like me, you put the ingredients in the bread machine and...Voila! Healthy, cheap, very tasty bread, the staff of life.
By eating low on the food chain with complex carbs such as homemade bread, organic rice, beans, lentils, etc. you save hundreds of dollars per year on your food budget.
As you save, prep better by buying in bulk. Walton packages foods that last over 20 years if you don’t open them. A small closet can hold enough to keep a family going for a year at a cost under $1000. IMHO, much better than freeze dried food.
As for some of the other preps, start with a .22 rifle or 12 gauge shotgun from a pawnshop. Right now the prices are fairly low since everybody is putting their money into pistols and ARs.
a guy my husband did some business for allowed him to hunt elk on his property, we gave him football tickets and the other day, he had my husband bring coolers and just GAVE for free 135pounds of fresh ground beef, already wrapped, from his farm.....
my policy..be generous when you can, helpful, and you never know when someone will be paying you back in a nice way....
I try. We don’t usually have any problems around here, but we have several new neighbors of unknown quality.
