It debuted at number 100 in the Billboard 200 chart, the highest position that a Bond soundtrack has reached since A View to a Kill was ranked 38 in the summer of 1985.
The soundtrack is the most successful in the franchise for more than 20 years (Getty)
This is perhaps even more surprising given that Adele's single Skyfall, which one would expect to be featured on the album, is not included, even though it debuted at 8 in the charts when it was released last week.

This is not about the theme, but the actual soundtrack.

There is still a BILLBOARD chart? I haven’t listened to new pop music (if it can still be called that) in 20 years.
Iron Maiden’s latest album reached 3rd place on that chart in 2010.
I found the movie disappointing. The theme song was the best part.
My personal favs (in no order) are Sinatra - You Only Live Twice, Simon - Nobody Does it Better, Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever, Easton - For Your Eyes Only and Coolidge - All Time High. Surprisingly I kinda like that one Garbage did...ummm... World is Not Enough.
Adele and Skyfall is way up there. Better than the movie until I watch it. When is it out on BluRay?, LOL!
Live and Let Die, nothing else comes close.
I won’t see it until it is on TV.
I always thought Shirley Bassey (not sure how you spell that last name) did a great theme song for “Goldfinger”.
My favorite is “You Only Live Twice”
Here is a vid of the opening sequence in HD

BTW how many Bond themes had male vocalists? Matt Monro and Tom Jones come to mind...there were at least a couple of others but I'm too lazy to go look.
Overbearing, irritating, unimaginative, uninspired, repetitive, amateurish Casio keyboard, drum machine crap.
All the wrong sound cues in the wrong places.
More a reflection on the producers than a no-talent film “composer” who is way out of his league.
Bondesque music doesn’t have to be overly complex to have impact.. http://youtu.be/FqWfELvu8t0
Is the movie good?
I love James Bond movies. With the exception of View to a Kill I can’t stand the themes as most of them sound alike and sound so cheesy. But whatever floats your boat ...
should do a Bond theme! Yup she's a hipster but she has ....something.....
I am here at the theare now waiting for the1105pm showing
Are you at the iMax?
“There were at least a couple of others but I’m too lazy to go look.”
Chris Cornell sung “You Know My Name” ... the title song for Casion Royale. “Live and Let Die” ... Paul McCartney. “A View to a Kill” by Duran Duran .... and “The Living Daylights” by aHa ... they should be the only others sung by a male ... Louis Armstrong sung “We Have All the Time in the World” which was sort of a theme song for “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” ... that wasnt used in the title sequence though ... Matt Monroe singing From Russia With Love wasnt used in the title sequence either though the song was in the background in one scene.
Skyfall was lame .... big disappointment :( .
This is about sound tracks
I am at the one near the govt center
Yup and to that end John Barry probably owns it.
it's been playing online almost nonstop for ~week now... i've seen it three times and is definitely one of the better Bond's
Report back please!
Review will be posted.
Hope you like it! I loved it.
One of the best Bond songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfc9GLxlhEw
I’ve spun Bassey’s “Goldfinger” on the turntable many times.

I liked the Duran Duran song for A view to a Kill. It was only ranked 38? You could hear every hour when the movie came out.
Bon, Simon, Le Bon.
PLEASE let it be a good Bond flick! The trailer looks good, Adele is great..I want SO MUCH to want to see it!
I liked it too, that classic Bernard Edwards/Nile Rodgers sound.
If you have not seen Skyfall--do it now!
As for Shirley Bassey, you all need to go to Youtube and see her cover of Pink's "Get the Party Started." It's awesome.
I loved the Jack White/Alicia Keyes song “another way to die” that was done for Quantum of Solace. The first time I heard it on the radio I said to hubby “it sounds like a James Bond song” and he said “that’s because that’s what it is”.
“Live and Let Die” has always annoyed me because of the line “the ever changing world in which we live in” I don’t know why that second “in” is there, it’s not even needed for the rhyme.
Empty!
