You must go on principle more than ever. How great would it be if Boehner said here's our resolution/bill - Kill Obamacare (can't afford it anyway), make Bush tax cuts permanent, then slice and dice other pork from budget - pass that bill, send it to the Senate and then RECESS congress - how hard is that? All spending resolution authority resides in the House, yet they still won't man up to it!
If they did this, then Obama would own the fiscal cliff and his health care would be the ball and chain escalating him down !! What a smart move - too bad the GOP is stuck on sissy and stupid!

That was Great Falls on the Potomac - Maryland side. Cool cliffs and great hiking - Billy Goat Trail.

A few years back I used the term “the gig is up”. So many of us saw this day coming. Now it is upon us.

Thanks. I found it to be a little biased towards what the Dems want. He went to some length describing the size of the DOD budget and its comparison with the rest of the world. You are left with the impression that this is one area where large cuts can be made. No discussion of cutting welfare programs and their impact.
Even with 63% of the budget on automatic pilot, I find it difficult to understand why it is so hard to cut 100 billion a year from a $3.7 trillion annual budget. The reality is that the political class is so used to having no real spending cuts, just cuts in the growth of spending. that it seems an impossible task to them.
The author makes a big deal about the lack of revenue but fails to mention that we are spending 25% of GDP, something we haven't done since WWII.

welfare cost is about 70% bureaucracy
Cut the bureaucracy in half by merging programs and save hundreds of billions without even cutting benefits.

We need to let it happen: Across the board tax increases that include the 47% and across the board spending cuts that target social programs as well as defense. Any other compromise will simply reward the takers and keep social programs intact.Agreed. Let them own it, wear it, drive it, try to get it out of the mud. Elections have consequences. Let's see what they do with it -- without us.
Someone might say: "B-b-b-b-ut, that would mean the end of America as we know it."
But that would be false. That already happened Tuesday night.

I am not in favor of going over the Fiscal Cliff Claven. But I don’t see any other way that government is going to make meaningful cuts to its spending. Look, meltdown, in one form or another is now inevitible. Might as well bring it on sooner rather than later.

Exactly. The chickens need to come home to roost for Obama and Congress now. When the country goes off the cliff people will finally have their eyes open to what our government has done to us.

If any of them had nuts, they would let it go right over the edge, just like what should of happened to the banks in 2008 and GM.

"I would not be surprised if the GOP (lead by weepy) caves on this, fearing how they will be deep-fried by the media"A lot of people are realizing that major media no longer serves it's intended purpose. I think they have an "approval" rating just above that of the congress.
