VANITY..Romney was so weak Ron Paul could have won the Presidency.

Posted on 11/08/2012 3:46:58 PM PST by Orange1998

Think about it. This election was purely about domestic issues, never heard anyone say voting for Romney because he has bad @ss foreign policy. Sadly, Romney did not win his own state with Obama taking 61% of MA votes.

1. Republican Nominates the riches person ever to run for President who couldn't connect with middle and lower class.

2. A flip flopper no one really sure his position. He was a serial candidate who changed as often as the wind blew. Even Goofus Rick Perry had him talking in circles.

3. Would never give details about his grand plan only to refer you to his website for information.

4. Would cut federal spending only to reveal the cuts after elected. Another way of saying I am not going to lie to you but once elected I will hammer you and your grandmother, no thanks I'll pass.

5. With a serious face propose Eliminating Big Bird after being pressured on the proposed cuts. Something two drunks sitting around fireplace would say only to wake up the next morning laughing at the thought. Only stupid candidates go after children programs during elections.

I could go on and on but you get the point, Republicans nominated the worst candidate available. Even Ron Paul could have won this election. Surely is not about Republicans having the wrong platform its about Republicans nominated the weakest candidate. The only good out of this, Romney will never run again and 2016 is a sure Republican bet since voters will experience miserable eight years of failed Obama policy.

I like your rant! I may be the only person on FR who thinks so but I really like Romney. He and Anne have class! I think he would have made a great president. I see so many opinions about why he lost and of course the media has been busy telling us why he lost. Everyone is blaming him but I understand 3 million Republicans didn’t vote.

You know who could beat Obama? Me, at my doorstep! Focus locally. Do not divide your attention. Keep your local governments strong, keep your local governments conservative. It is a post-Constitutional America anyway. Fight for your family, your home, and you principles.

umm not really. This is why Perry lost and it was because of Romney’s flipflops!

Heck no, I wouldn’t vote for Ron Paul. He has some good ideas, but is completely bonkers in most areas.

Well, perhaps those who didn’t vote for whatever reason put pettiness, laziness, whatever, first, instead of love of country. We have become a nation of blame others first.

John Kerry was actually the richest person to run.

Actually, John Kerry had the richest wife of any person to run. Kerry was living off of the taxpayers and graft until he married Teresa Heinz and had access to all of the millions that she inherited from her last husband.

Richer than John F Heinz Kerry?

I would've voted for Paul. I voted for Romney. See where that got us? Let the RINOs explain our loss. I jumped ship for the good of the nation, and see how much that helped. Screw the GOP. If they don't hold firm on the debt ceiling, I won't vote for them again nationally. Nationally, I'll vote libertarian or constitution party. Tough crap.

Me too. The country was presented with a good decent man, emminently qualified to lead.

Tragically, we are now outnumbered by idiots. I fear for our future...

You’re going off election day totals. There are still votes being counted. Romney is likely to end up with about 3M more votes than McCain got and Obama will fall short of his 2008 total by a couple million. This was still a pretty close win and many factors could have turned the tables, but the idea that Obama was “extremely beatable” was based on the idea that people who voted for him in 2008 would punish him for his horrible economic record and the monstrosity that is ObamaCare. Instead 50% of the electorate blamed Bush, which neutralized that issue. And low info voters won’t get pissed off by ObamaCare until they start actually feeling the negative effects when it is fully in place. Of course, Obama lost some support, but they just stayed home instead of voting for Romney. And the Dem voter registration/turnout machine, buoyed by favorable demographic trends was able to make up for much of that.

Ron Paul supports Iran’s developing nukes. He’s a worthless piece of filth and if he had been the nominee *I* would have stayed home for the first time since I became eligible to vote.

Agreed.

Focus energy and resources on local elections. Aren’t Governorships leaning conservative anyway recently? Keep at it. Begin in the cities and states.

Imagine a country where the 3 branches are owned by the Left. And the states owned by the Right. That is a recipe I like! Not joking here folks - not one iota.

Interesting points.

Somehow in Indiana we’ve managed to elect an evangelical Tea Party backed Governor AND Republican supermajorities in the state house and senate.

Don't worry. You'll just get hammered by the crazy Paul haters. The response to your post has nothing to do with the election. They still can't come to grips with the GOP abandoning the constitution. Scalia included. Imagine how shocked they are with their beloved federal government being disrespected by Washington and Colorado legalizing weed when the all powerful yet jurisdiction free fedguv disagrees.

Their heads are spinning, and they don't know how to react.

They'll yell from the rooftops: "Paul wants heroin for kids everywhere!". It's true. Hang out and wait for it.

Hmmmm. I don’t agree with a thing you said. I tend to look at the man’s family, achievements, and contributions in life. I tend to be impressed with his business successes. being a leader, He would have called upon the captains of industry. I think he would have put the economy on the right track, rebuilt our reputation abroad by strengthening trade, established a great business climate for investors, and laid the foundation for good will across the country. Then, he probably would have turned it all over to the next president and he would have gone on to his next station in life. Someone might have looked and said, “Who was that masked man?” he would never have asked for a thing. If he received anything afterward, he would give it away.

Both candidates got fewer votes this time than the candidates did last time because there was less interest and less enthusiasm this time. The overall pool of voters shrank. It would have been hard to buck that trend, whoever was nominated.

To say a candidate is "beatable" in the abstract isn't saying much. Every candidate has weaknesses, but you have to find another candidate who can make the most of those weaknesses and win. There wasn't such a candidate this time around, and you can't beat somebody with nobody.

“John Kerry was actually the richest person to run.”

No, Kerry’s wife was the richest wife of a candidate. It was her money, not his.
