Congratulations America. We are no longer in the era of individual liberty, personal responsibility and the freedom of self-reliance. We are now fully a nation of big screen tvs and rims on credit, participation trophies, and American Idol. Spending on food stamps and "entitlements" are at all-time highs. Apparently that's a good thing. Saving money and living within our means is for suckers. No need to balance the budget when we can just heap the debt on the backs of future generations. The people want "stuff" but, by God, someone else better pay for it.
Congratulations America. Unemployment among women is now the highest it's been since the 1960s but hey, at least Sandra Fluke, a 30 yr old college student at the elite Georgetown University, will now have taxpayers pay for her birth control. After all, apparently that's what matters most.
Congratulations America. Success and achievement is now derided and resented. It's worthy of scorn and ridicule. By all means, let's reward ineptitude, mediocrity, and fame over true accomplishment. Thats the hip thing to do. The evil nasty filthy putrid rich pay for the very existence of over 40% of the population, donate millions to charity, create businesses and pay the salaries of millions of people, yet they still don't pay their "fair share." Don't you know? ...It's perfectly ok to be an utter failure as long as you're cool. Someone else will pick up the tab.
Congratulations America. We are now the antithesis of the principles of individualism on which our nation was founded. Enjoy.
P.S. Who is John Galt?
I work in retail and consider it a microcosm of society. When the EBT payers outnumber the cash payers you know it’s over. I guess it’s true we must hit bottom before we can start the climb back up.
I just got back from a cruise out of port of miami. The ship was full of EPT vacationers...inner city ‘amish’
But don’t forget that in addition to the “obamaphones” women will now get free birth control so they can fornicate like mink and produce more liberals.
Wouldn’t “free” birth control REDUCE the potential for reproduction?
(not that I’m in favor of it)
EPT? Early Pregnancy Test? ??
A shining beacon of freedom and liberty in the world? Ha! Not any more. 58 million people said big-government socialist/fascist policies are just fine with them, keep the healthcare, birth control, abortions, and iPhones coming... I have nothing but complete and utter contempt for each and every one of you 58 million saps.
yeh, I caught that incongruity. But if you need $4000 a year for birth control like Sandra Fluke you’re apparently very active and are bound to slip up and produce another little gov’t dependent liberal!
I say give them free birth control. Why would we want them to produce more of their kind?
Well said.
Spent some time in Russia in the mid-90’s when they were emerging from this. Like a mirror image.
“Know (understand) your enemy and know (understand) yourself and you will always be victorious.”
We don’t understand our enemy and we make no attempt to understand them. They do not think or behave like us, so we ignore them. And they vote. Yes, foolish and selfish people should not vote, but they do. How can we appeal to them?
We don’t understand our own Republican party. We won’t vote for Republicans who aren’t our denomination.
The rest of that old Chinese saying is
“If you don’t know yourself and if you don’t know your enemy, you will always be defeated.”
Maybe Karl Rove can write this on his little white board.
I guarantee you the Democrats know and understand this. The Republicans are standing around saying, “We’re the better people and we should be winning.” Yep, but we aren’t....time for a change.
I work part-time at William-Sonoma, a high end culinary store. Last week we had a lady yelling at our manager for not accepting an EBT card for our food products. Evidently my Indonesian manager is a racist and that she ruined thanksgiving. The explanation was lost on the customer that we arent set up to take food stamps even if we wanted to.
