I love this headline from FoxNews.com:

AMERICA DECIDES: First Votes Cast, Mitt Battles On, Obama Goes Home

I just hope that it is prescient that America's decision will be to send obama HOME with a strong rebuke and repudiation of his one complete term in office.

There were two guys hanging out in the back of a Blazer at my polling place. But they were there representing two local repubs, so all was cool.

All precincts in VA reporting long waits. i am working at home today because we are having the carpeting torn out of the family room and hardwood installed to match the kitchen floor. Mr. B, our Persian contractor for the past 20+ years is very conservative. As for Obama, Mr B said “i cannot even breathe his name..” for disgust for him, i presume. He also waited an hour and a half to vote before coming here to work. Xsbaby was allowed to skip school and is out door knocking for the FCRC.

I’d be interested in seeing how many voters there are per machine. The longest I ever had to wait was about 30 minutes on the night we all voted to reject a new sales tax to pay for stadia. And that was in the “after work” busy period.

I rebuked the D-Puke weeks ago via absentee ballot …

Now it’s hope & pray for the best — but being Bills fans, we can deal with the disappointment somewhat if things don’t that go as they should.

Hey, if we’ve all been deluding ourselves for the past month, I can’t think of a better bunch of imaginary internet friends to have shared the delusion with. ;-)

i would be astounded if voting was as quick here as you have in podunk PA, Westmoreland Co. like i said, we have a ZILLION diff languages being spoken by voters. There was a pollworker who kept going up and down the hall of the elementary school where we vote telling people to take their ID OUT now, don’t wait until you get up there to pull it out of your purse, wallet, pocket etc. that that was creating a hold up. I saw two hispanic women at the table where they check you off with some piece of paper that they were analyzing to see if it was sufficient for proof of residency i guess. they don’t let you in the room, giving a HIPAA-like distance, so i couldn’t hear exactly what the problem was. But you don’t have ANY of that, you have homogenous population who have been voting in that spot for the last millenium, so of course it’s streamlined.

Polls open in VA at 6 am, we prob should have gone then. that’s what i did when voting for W, and it was quicker. We went at 7 am today, which is the before work busy period.

and we had two constitutional amdts and some bond issues. i told xsgirls if you see the words BORROW $ or take on a DEBT the vote is NO,so all bond issues are NO. the one amdt was to restrict eminent domain, so that was a yes, and the other was something about calling a legislative session. We discussed it all before voting so it took us no time, but you have dimwits going in that have no idea what is what and it’s going to take them longer.

Aren’t the ballots in English? If people are too ignorant, regardless of language, to show an ID, sign a book and punch some buttons, then maybe they should reconsider voting. How do these people manage to buy milk in the grocery store?

You seem to be missing my larger point - that a 90 minute wait means the state has not provided enough voting machines/locations for the size of the population.

it’s in God’s hands. i went to adoration at St James last night, Fr. Horkin had a talk, scripture reading, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the rosary. it calmed me considerably. God said he would spare Sodom if there was just one just man. we have 50% of our population who are just. Hopefully, it’s enough.

spoken like a true provincial jagoff from Western PA ; ) Believe it or not major urban areas have tons of foreigners who live, shop, work and VOTE here.
i am not missing your point, but i don’t know how feasible it is to have a zillion voting machines when the turn out is only occasionally way above the norm.

besides, you are acting like my experience was outside the norm. it’s not. Paula waited an hour and a half last friday evening to vote EARLY in Montgomery co., MD. Do you know anyone voting in downtown Pittsburgh or a more densely populated suburb than podunk WestMoCo?

You’re the one who mentioned people needing language assistance. They should all know enough English to be able to vote — it is a requirement of citizenship (if naturalized).

As for the number of machines, I’m sure it could be improved.

No, I don’t know anyone voting in a “city” environment. I’m not sure why population density is supposed to excuse poor government.

Voting must be like childbirth - people forget about the pain they went through right after it’s over. If I had to wait 90 minutes to vote, I would be making sure that never happened again.

There are going to be a lot of registered Democrats in Cuyahoga county serving up a big surprise for Obozo this evening by voting for Romney.......

My brother registered himself as a Democrat this time so he could vote Kucinich out so the other incumbent Democrat fighting for the seat would win .........

He was not the only republican to do this, several of his friends did the same in Cuyahoga County.

My brother has been polled by CNN, Columbus Dispatch, and some other big dem polling outlet.....he told them all he was voting for Obozo.......then Yesterday he walked his Absentee ballot into the vote poll and it was a vote for Romney.
