I don’t care what Romney may have done with the auto industry. He didn’t kill 4 Americans and try to hide it from the American people.

Now BO 47, Romney 46.
I would suspect that lack of knowledge of what this really means as far as the effects of different bankruptcy plans is some responsible for some of the yes votes.

When GM manufactures 7 out of 10 cars OUTSIDE the USA, why are we involved with this corporate bailout, theft of bond-holders, transfer of wealth from bond-holders to unions, and awarding Obama supporters with dealerships and taking away dealerships from Republican-leaning dealerships?

Assuming the crowd being reached here on FR is voting for Romney solely for the purpose of kicking Obama out of the government, I can’t really imagine a less interesting question ~

As a Michigander who has worked in the auto industry I know that bankruptcy would have been better for the company than this bailout crap.
Traditional chapter 11 style bankruptcy would have allowed cutting out the deadwood instead of trying to save it at the expense of the whole tree. GM is in a far more precarious position today than it was before the bailout.

Banruptcy is simply a way for perfectly useful assets to be placed into the hands of more responsible, better positioned owners.
It's a way of telling someone "you've lost, now move over".
The Obamista trip to the well was a failure. The assets were handed over to some of the same people who'd been putting the company under. The new regime needs to go immediately to the courts and have it done right ~

That's why I'm voting to keep Michigan's emergency manager law. Its really very similar to a corporate bankruptcy. It gives a city a fighting chance to go bankrupt while still operating more efficiently. That often means voiding union contracts and laying off workers.
Naturally Detroit is fighting it every step of the way while other cities like Pontiac are recovering due to their acceptance of the emergency manager.
Emergency manager action 'best thing that has happened in the city of Pontiac in a long time'
In August 2011, Emergency Manager Lou Schimmel worked out an arrangement where the Oakland County Sheriffs Office took over as provider of police services for Pontiac.
The sheriffs office brought in the existing 50 Pontiac police officers and re-hired 13 other former Pontiac police officers who had been laid off, and added 11 sheriffs deputies to patrol the city.
The result was not just an extra 24 officers, but the transition saved $4.2 million while response time to calls dropped from 76 minutes under the Pontiac police to 9 minutes, 45 seconds under the Sheriffs Department. Pontiac spent $13.7 million on police services in 2009. That dropped to $9.5 million in 2011.
And that is how a managed bankruptcy should work in a business or in a city.

"...I would suspect that lack of knowledge of what this really means as far as the effects of different bankruptcy plans..."Most people don't even know there ARE different kinds of bankrupy plans. Hell, 80% of 'em can't even tell you who their representitives in congress are.

The Kenyan must go.

Not at all.
It would have followed long-standing, set-by-numerous-precidents LAW.
The bankrupcy procedings of GM were no more legal than Edward G. Robinson sitting around the table dividing up the look after a heist.

The Kenyan must go.
