The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Greetings from Missouri. We have a bright sunny day - kinda cold here. Freeze warnings last night and tonight. I put row covers over everything still left in the garden and the sprouts of garlic and lettuce planted for the winter garden.

Still enjoying lots of tomatoes as they ripen indoors from the limbs I cut off a few weeks back.

Have a great weekend. God Bless.

Thanks for the ping. We are still getting some peppers and the ghost peppers are growing larger. Light rain is falling at the moment.

Had our first skiff of snow in the valleys. Mountains have had 1-2 inches. Will be back inthe 50’s next week whichis normal. Some rain and snow mix thru the weekend.

Planning on raising our gardens using pavers and great soil in preparations for next spring.

Temps dropped 30 degrees in 24 hours in Texas. We had a little welcome rain for about 3 minutes earlier today. I walked out the other day and something had killed the squash. Every year I plant different squashes and everytime they’re up and blooming, they get swarmed with something and immediately that’s it.

Am still getting beans, peppers and greens.

My peppers are all grown in 3-gallon pots...I am loaded with orange, purple, red, and chocolate bells at the moment; along with a number of others...

I have been wanting to get an earthbox mostly to use indoors during the winter, but they are kinda expensive, so I have just been muddling by with what I have on hand.

Yes, I have to admit, I have some heirloom seeds that I ordered from Baker Creek - a Missouri Company.

Greetings from New Joisey - right in the path of Hurricane Sandy. Will be covering my little fig tree so it survives the storm. My knockout roses are still blooming and I just took inside three beautiful Charles Aznouzar (sp?) roses. They are the longest blooming and the most beautiful in my garden.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

It is 56 as I type. Don’t think it ever got to 60 today. Just been a nasty grey day here, and in Houston, according to my wife.

It is time to transplant the ghost peppers to larger containers. They will be brought indoors and babied through the winter and looking forward to spring and our first crop of ghost peppers. Our other peppers are grown in ground, and we had a good crop, for the first time. I forget how many jars my wife put up, but it was over a dozen. I credit the soil test that we had done this year.

Do you bring your peppers inside for the winter?
