Oh, oh, you hit my Gene Kelly button! I am such a fan. This movie was the beginning of his brother/sister relationship with Judy Garland. He was a Broadway star (He was Pal Joey on Broadway) and he was scared and nervous doing his first film. Judy showed him the ropes and assured him he was doing great. Much later, when Judy was at her worst emotionally, mentally and physically (during the filiming of Summer Stock, which they starred in together), Gene returned the favor, nurturing her along, encouraging her and helping her through that film when everyone else was ready to ditch her.

For Me and My Gal looks stilted today, but for its time, a wonderful movie. And Gene is ALWAYS such a talented hunk!
