Fortunately, the Excalibur came in last week.

We got almost no green peppers this year. Kinda ironic. Hubby originally wanted to grow a bunch of peppers to stuff and freeze. Last 2 years didn’t get enough to do squat.

Oooppppssss SORRY FOR THE SIZE...
My onions and garlic are growing like crazy. I also have broccoli and cauliflower plants that are growing great. I had to replant the turnips and lettuce because my cats thought that was their new toilet area. Ticked me off.
Cool and wet here in Central Missouri today. I dug several pounds of horseradish root a couple days ago that needs to be cleaned and processed. Aside from that all the gardening I’ve done lately is stare at the mess that needs to be cleaned up.
Snowing. First freezes this week, with harder ones expected this weekend. Picked everything (not very much!) that was even half way pickable.
Emptied the storage tank by deep-watering the trees & perennials; and drained the irritation pump & lines.
Pulled the yellow wax beans, and fed them to the chickens. After languishing in the heat all summer, they had finally started to bloom. We got one scant meal’s worth from 40 feet of them.
Worst garden ever.
It appeared in an area of the garden where some spaghetti squash plants were growing on a trellis. All the other squashes in this area looked like one of the type types in the foreground here:
Nearby on the same trellis were some cucumber plants. At the beginning of the season I was worried that different types of squash plants might cross but when I looked this up I read that any crosses would only affect the seeds and not the fruit. But perhaps this is not accurate. Or maybe it's accurate for two squash varieties, but perhaps cucumber can sometimes cross with squash and affect the fruit.
I have some other types of squash and zucchini plants elsewhere in the garden.
Does anyone have any info on this?

We had a horrible garden this year as well. I feel your pain. My one success has been my little chicken co-op with my neighbor. We got our first eggs about ten days ago. And so far our white leghorn has been giving one egg a day. The sussex are slower.
Garden - echk. I just now remembered that I have a tiny row of carrots out there, so I guess I’ll check them out. Decent green beans after having to replant (deer) and a few tomatoes. NO bell peppers (deer, then weather) and pests got most of the rest.
Snow should start in about three weeks, maybe four. Sigh.
Great Pics. Thanks for sharing. We gave up on zukes after the first year. Too much space used and 6 zukes would last us a year.

LOL. Yesterday a big puppy wandered into the yard, and my rat terrior escaped and went after it. They rolled all over my watermelon patch, leaped the wall onto the potted tomatoes and knocked them over.
Boy oh boy - I surely was ticked, so I can relate.LOL
LOL. I have a huge mess on my back patio. As I trimmed the tomatoes leaves, pulled out cornstalks etc. I was in a hurry and just let them fall on the concrete.
It faces southwest, so usally they just shrink and dry up within a day or two and I can sweep them up. No way I’m going out in this cold drizzle to clean up.
Yeh, I am sure glad we haven’t had that SHTF moment yet, cause my garden produce is way behind schedule.
I have read that some corcubits do cross pollinate and affect the fruit. I have also read that it only impacts the seeds. I truly don’t know the truth.
I usually try to segregate them.
Here’s something weird: My daughter planted some almond trees a few years back. Three years ago, she got her first batch of almonds. The next year and this year, she got peaches.
Was this new certified seed or seed that you saved last year?
All of our plants were either from seed packets or in a few cases from starts that we purchased. We didn’t save any seed from last years crop. This odd fruit was on a plant that also produced normal looking spaghetti squash. So I think it has to have something to do with pollination this year.
