My family does dramatic funerals. At the funeral for my sister in laws very German father, his grandson, my nephew held up a stein at the end and called out a raucous toast in German that his grandfather had always used at family gatherings. I’m surprised he didn’t jump on the pulpit and stomp his feet. Other family funerals have involved gag gifts and the most recent and most poignant, a slide show with an old video showing my brother walking away while my then ten year old son said, “See ya, Jim.”
