Your weekend plans sound pretty awful, Paradox. I can’t understand how people can “not talk politics” at family gatherings.

Everything leads back to it: the economy, housing market, world affairs, the economy, price of gas.

And to have to about their crazy beliefs? I say STAY AWAY from them, at least until after the election. And if Obama should happen to win, don’t ever talk to them again cuz it’ll be due to drones like them that our country goes up in flames.

I am also an ex-Dem, from my youth. But I was more of a Scoop Jackson/Sam Nunn Dem (pro defense, considered the Soviets to be almost the Antichrist). At about the time of the McGovern campaign, I noticed a sickening leftward, almost anti-American move (cutting the US down to size - now who else has that worldview, hmmm?). As Ronaldus Magnus said, “I did not leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me”.

Bravo FRiend and more power to you! As a former liberal I can tell you civility is not in their playbook. Quite the opposite. It's all in-your-face, profanity and ad hominems. In a vary rare and I do mean rare instance you might run across a mild one, what I call the ''granola'' type but more often than not they're of the singularly obnoxious, venom-spewing type (like my youngest brother). Never, NEVER be afraid , after having stated your case with logic and facts shrink from giving them a strong verbal left hook. Or a real one for that matter(just make sure there are no witnesses). Liberals for the most part are cowards.

And haven’t you noticed that conservatives are men of respect; ones that have a faith in God, go to work everyday and give it their best, usually hold positions of high accountability and responsibility, and believe in our nation’s founding principles?

I have yet to meet a soldier, policeman, or fireman that is liberal or does not believe in God. It’s reflected in their words and actions and they are real men; men of respect that will stand up to the encroaching evil in this country. Not the limp wristed gutless pansies that will turn and run at the first confrontation. We have to remember to uproot the evil that is Barack Hussein Obama this November.

My breaking point came when these liberals actually called for the arrest and prosecution of the creator of the anti-muslim video that has been out since July.

I wonder if they know or care that the reason the Left is blaming the video is that they need to curb Free Speech in order to take full control of the People. Every time they blame a movie/cartoon/phrase for someone else's mindless violence, I cringe because I know the only reaso to do so is to "establish" that the "abuse" of Free Speech is so serious that they "need" to do something to whittle away at it.

I have gotten to the point where no matter what outrage or idiocy I hear on their part, I won't say anything. Its just not worth it, especially if my parents are around. One on one though, some of them do listen, but in a group, forget it. Liberals are bullies, its their nature.

I have a similar large family but at least my cousins and a couple of siblings are conservative. I can't even do one-on-one with my liberal siblings. I left a treasured book for my sister to read, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's "A Warning To The West" and she said she flipped through it but decided that it is irrelevant since "it was written in the 1970s". I replied to her that a book she had loaned me was written about something in the 1960s but it didn't make it irrelevant. Liberals do not want to know the truth.

I’ve been giving liberals wet willy s since Windows 95 on the newsgroups. I’ve learned a lot over the years. The best way to stay sane in the endeavor is not read their replies and don’t reply to replies. I still do it on facebook every night. I am relentless. I do it over and over without regard for what is said about me. Every night. Over and over. I’ve been called every name in the book. One thing I’ve learned is ignoring a liberal gets them really pissed. I get a lot of material from FR plus I follow about 80 people on twitter. I get a lot of material from @iowahawkblog.

Libs cannot speak with substance....they simply spout emotion or platitudes or canards and then hurl some invective about bigotry and move on

They will not confront empirical proof they are uninformed

Or they will nitpick grammar....or spelling....and call you hick blissfully unaware of their own prejudice

Liberals are miserable and they blame the very world they wish to fix it
