There are some readers for whom obtaining a first edition copy of their favorite book or author is of great import and this is evidenced by people standing in long lines to get their hands on new books. While this may be a common site in the West, many believe this is not the case in the Arab world.
There is a common perception too about the number of Arabs that frequent libraries. That number mirrors the nature of a reading culture and can be used to evaluate reading habits among its generations.
Earlier this year, a debate on how to foster reading habits among Arab youth was prompted after the Arab Thought Foundations Fikr released its fourth annual cultural development report in January, saying that the average Arab child reads six minutes a year in comparison to 12,000 minutes its Western counterpart spends.
It also reported that an Arab individual on average reads a quarter of a page a year compared to the 11 books read by an American and seven books by a British person.

Maybe it’s because they never had any trees, it’s really hard to live in a desert, they aren’t that used to having building and libraries, little leisure time, etc. I doubt, throughout history, that reading was high on their priority list, especially for those that were/are not affluent.
And that quarter page is almost certainly from Mein Kampf, Protocols of the Elders of Zion, or the koran.
A brilliant and learned people are the arabs.
All 6 pages of how infidels are the evil ones. I’ve been to Egypt years ago and their dailies barely had a business section nor entertainment. The first pages were about allah this and that etc. And westerners are the ones without culture?
Cut to the chase. It isn’t that they don’t read. It is that they don’t know how. Literacy is TMI in ISLAM.
All people have cultures of some sort, don’t they?
So (according to leftist think) - there should be an equalization (grade them on a Bell curve).
Award arabs Nobel prizes, and recognize arab’s achievements (as per Obama’s false claims).
That’s because they teach their children that the only books worth reading were written c. 1300 years ago.
Couple that with first cousins marrying for even longer than that and you see why they are so easily controlled.
Did you know Paris Hilton wrote a book, one chapter giving advice to women on how to become an heiress? (Saw it on a Chicago bus, reading by an airline stewardess, 19 tips or something)
That Islam turns people into human hyenas is without dispute.
That reading leads to a western civilization that is superior to Islam is disputable. It is WHAT one reads that makes the difference, and we are not reading good stuff right now.
Members of the Religion of Peace can read? Who knew? All this time I thought they were plotting where and when their next suicide bombing would be carried out. After all, there are priorities, aren’t there?

The Israel TestGilder’s 2009 book The Israel Test is partly described as follows:
Gilder reveals Israel as a leader of human civilization, technological progress, and scientific advance. Tiny Israel stands behind only the United States in its contributions to the hi-tech economy. Israel has become the world’s paramount example of the blessings of freedom.

Founder of Neoconservatism, Irving Kristol, says about the book: “Everyone talks about ‘free enterprise’ but no one understands the entrepeneurial basics of growth better than George Gilder.” While conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh says: “My friends, it would behoove you to study everything you can get your hands on by George Gilder, a true American genius.”[28]
In an interview for National Review about the book, Gilder says the book is about “the cosmic law between success and envy”. He further states Israel’s role as:
Western civilization, in part, originated in Israel. Now Israel is a crucial source of invention, military intelligence, and entrepeneurial creativity that may yet save the West. I believe Netanyahu is a Churchillian figure emerging at the perfect time to confront the Jihad.
George Gilder, National Review interview July 2009: “Choosing the Chosen People - Anti-Semitism is essentially hatred of capitalism and excellence.”[29]

That’s because nobody can read arabic...how can you read “squiggly line squiggly line dot dot”
Well, they used to have a library in Alexandria, but they burned it down. And why build a library when the only acceptable reading comes from one book of a cult.
Jut read the translation of the hundreds of thousands of immams worldwide; they all confirm that.
Or, you could interview all the muslims who have lived and worked all their lives in a muslim country, and won the Nobel Prize in the sciences mathermatics or medicine.
Wait.
...never mind...
They burned it because if a book contains knowledge that is already in the Koran, it is just useless. If it contains knowledge that isn’t in the Koran, it is evil.
Not all are that way, but the majority are. They know no other way.
