Today is The Day U.S. Citizens Became Slaves of Their Government
Self | 6/28/2012 | Self

Posted on 06/28/2012 7:34:44 AM PDT by catnipman

Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Government can tax citizens because they exist, not because they earn income, but because they exist. There are no limits on the amount we can be taxed to exist.

We are all now officially slaves owned by and for the U.S. Federal Government.

Uh, no. He could have voted it unconstitutional, as it is just that. Roberts is a loser and should get every ounce of blame. He deserves it.

“Roberts should say it like it is: congress passed the law, not me. Be mad at congress, not the court.”

Be mad at both. I expected nothing from the leftists on the Court. But Roberts just validated a doctrine that is the most sweeping expansion of Federal power in history. Congress used to have to tie regulation of individual behavior to the interstate commerce clause. So, for example, guns had to cross state lines for the feds to regulate behavior with guns. By calling something a tax, the feds can now regulate any behavior or non-behavior, interstate or not. Any action or any inaction.

So, for example, a few years back, Congress passed a law making it illegal to have a gun within 1,000 feet of a school. Supreme court ruled it unconstitutional under the commerce clause. After Robert’s abomination today, Congress may pass a tax of $1,000,000 each time you come within 1,000 feet of a school with a gun. Then when you don’t pay, the IRS puts you in jail for refusal to pay the tax. Same result as if the Supreme Court had just gutted the Commerce Clause directly in school gun case.

The only remaining limits on Congress power are (1) Portions of the bill of rights (1st, 2nd, self-incrimination) and (2) limits that are not in the Constitution but invented by previous supreme court. For example, Congress can’t do anything about abortion or sodomy after Roe and Lawrence.

We had been very close to having the entire infrastructure in place for a totalitarian state. Mr. Justice Roberts just completed the infrastructure. Congress only passed one very bad law, Obamacare. Robert’s just permitted any bad law Congress wants to pass. Robert’s act is far more reprehensible.

So yes. Be angry at Roberts. Be very, very angry.

My wife just laid out our DVD of 1776 which we have watched every 4th of July since the Bicentennial. I told her to put it away; I can’t bear to look at it now.

Your post really hit home with me. That is what this monsterous decision has done to our once great nation. The Republic crafted by those brilliant and inspired men is now ashes. This is a black day for the USA.

Roberts did not have to agree that the mandate was a TAX. Contrarily, Obama and the Democrats INSISTED it was not a tax. He merely had to state that it did not pass muster under the Commerce Clause and let it stand there, he did not have to side with the crew of idiots that transmutated the mandate part into a tax and therefore keep the mandate in tact. A traitor in my opinion who does not understand what it means to be a free American.

Now is the time to tell your REPUBLICAN Congressman & tell them you are pissed at being made a slave to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT & that things are going to get very unpleasant & then start organizing for the coming troubles.

“Roberts is a GD’d Traitor! Thanks for nothing, W.”

Yep. That’s what you get when you vote for a RINO just because he’s “not as bad as the other guy.”

And a lot of people on this site are going to vote for a candidate whose court appointments are even farther to the left.

GOD. HELP. US.

The Confederate States of America doesn’t look so bad now, does it?

I've said for a long time many times that the wrong side won.

What concerns me is that Roberts stated in his opinion,(paraphrasing from Drudge” that it is the court’s duty to find a way to uphold law, even if unconstitutional. And, if he thought the mandate was unconstitutional he could have eliminated it with his vote. I believe Roberts is another Souter, and the left now has its ultimate dream, a majority on the USSC.

I think it’s a competition to see who violated the Constitution more. Obama or Roberts.

Roberts implemented a tax on the bill. No one, including the Obama legal team or even the lower courts argued for that. He just implemented that all on his own. I mean WTF?

Congress has to implement taxation, not a Supreme Court Justice? I mean you have got to be kidding me with this. Not only does the guy uphold a violation of the Constitution, but he decides that’s not good enough let me also violate the Constitution all on my own.

Like I always said, screw Bush.

Maybe not the end per se, but the end of freedom and the ability to pursue freedom individually.

Many hard working people that pay the taxes that Obama expects to fuel this debacle will simply join the ranks of the leeches. Limit income, take time off, hide assets, and just apply for all the benefits. A person would have to be a fool to start a business that employs enough people to qualify coming under the ACA.

Medicaid, Medicare and government health insurance for all. Their tax receipts will plummet - witness the stock market tanking right now.

>>We are all now officially slaves owned by and for the U.S. Federal Government<<

If the feds can compel mandated health insurance through taxation, what limits do they now have?

Citizens now can be compelled to purchase anything the government deems necessary as long as the mandate is formulated as a tax.

Everyone should calm down. Roberts Et all made it a tax! Obama is screwed!!! Also states can opt out without penalty. Roberts is wicked smart. Gave Obama his wish, by attaching a tax to his name.

I'm afraid you are whistling past the graveyard with this. There is far more evil in this law than just the tax. Much harm will be done before it can be fixed - if it ever is.
