Eating more blueberries, apples and pears may be linked to lower risk of diabetes, according to a new U.S. study.
These fruits are loaded with flavonoids, a natural compound present in certain fruits, vegetables and grains, which some research has tentatively tied to heath benefits such as a lower risk of heart disease or cancer.
"People who ate a higher amount of blueberries or apples, they tended to have a low risk of type 2 diabetes," said An Pan, a research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health who worked on the study.

i dunno.. been type two since I was 29.. that happend because I gained 25 lbs with first gestation. both mom and grandma were type 2. I am stilll holding normal weight for my age...still remaing type 2 according to my readings...It will be what ever the study says...I am actucally at the weight that I should be for a female 55. I take in approx 1500 calories per day. BTW, I hate sugar and anything related.
This makes the context clear. This was more a survey study over time rather than a clinical study, which is why they only claim an "association".
Btw, Wyman's sells frozen blueberries that are delicious. I add a 1/2 cup to my cereal each morning.
I have reversed my type 2 diabetes...took about a month to accomplish. I eat a Vegan diet along with aerobic exercise. Type 2 Diabetes...like hypertension are diet and lifestyle problems primarily that can be reversed or controlled better without drugs.
