We have an electric central heating system. When the temp outside gets below freezing, the thing just runs and runs on auxiliary heat and just blows COLD AIR. We did get four little electric space heaters which help a lot. Also have a wood stove that will just about take over the job just tamped down to low, then the central system doesn’t even come on.

We also close the doors upstairs so the heat is kept downstairs; then in the summer, we open the upstairs doors so the hot air downstairs goes up to those rooms. No one stays up there often anyway.

Pleading The Lord’s Cause

February 3, 2012

Charles Finney, a 29-year-old lawyer, was concerned about his soul’s salvation. On October 10, 1821, he retreated to a wooded area near his home for a time of prayer. While there, he had a profound conversion experience. He wrote: “The Holy Spirit . . . seemed to go through me, body and soul. . . . Indeed it seemed to come in waves of liquid love.”

The next day, he met with a client who had come to him for legal representation. Finney told him: “I have a retainer from the Lord Jesus Christ to plead His cause and cannot plead yours.” He left his law practice and entered the ministry. Later, he would be used mightily of God to bring others to Christ.

The apostle Paul was also called to plead the Lord’s cause. He wrote, “I am appointed for the defense of the gospel” (Phil. 1:17). The word translated “defense” was used in the ancient world for an attorney pleading his case in a court of law. All believers are called to share the wonderful news of the saving grace of God. “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor. 5:20).

What a great privilege to be used of God to bring others to Christ!

Do we really care for those
Who live beneath God’s wrath?
The gospel must be shared with them,
To turn them from death’s path. —Sper

The good news of Christ is too good to keep to yourself.

Read: Philippians 1:12-18

I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. —Philippians 1:17

Leviticus 20-23

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

From an email on June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.

The cowboy lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh Amarillo theatre.

When the usher came by and noticed this he whispered to the cowboy, "Sorry, sir, but you're only allowed one seat."

The cowboy groaned but didn't budge. The usher became more impatient. "Sir, if you don't get up from there, I'm going to have to call the manager. The cowboy just groaned.

The usher marched briskly back up the aisle. In a moment he returned with the manager. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move the cowboy, but with no success.

Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly then asked, "All right buddy, what's you're name?" "Sam," the cowboy moaned. "Where ya from, Sam?" With pain in his voice Sam replied.... "The balcony."

Hit and run still working on health issues, will be some time before they are fixed it seems. Endocrinologist next on list, to fix the mess that the 2 waring diets of the PC and Ear doc have created in my body. Seems low sodium and low cholesterol does NOT like your Thyroid..NO Iodine. It only take mml of it, but it is the master gland, the furnace of your body. And neither doc knows jack about it.

Urologist is sending me to the Neurosurgeon for the bulged lumbar, seems the L3-4 control those functions. And before he will fix the prolapsed bladder he wants that under control.

Hope you like the song I found. I miss not being able to be active here at FR. And I miss my FR Friends.

Six Degrees Of Separation

February 4, 2012

Eighty years ago, Hungarian author Frigyes Karinthy wrote a short story he called “Chain-Links,” in which he proposed the idea that any two individuals in the world are connected through, at most, five acquaintances. The thesis has been revived today and is usually described as “Six Degrees of Separation.” It’s an unproven theory, of course. But there is a dynamic at work that links us to others around the world: It is the wisdom and providence of God working through His Word to accomplish His will.

Some years ago, I received a letter from a man whom I had never met telling me that a note I had sent to a nearby friend had found its way to him, and it had encouraged him in a time of weariness and dark despair. The friend to whom I had sent the note sent it to a friend, who, in turn, sent it to a friend, and so on, until it was sent to the man who wrote to me.

It may be that a simple word offered in love, guided by the wisdom of God, and borne aloft on the wings of the Spirit will have eternal consequences in someone’s life.

Should we not then fill ourselves with God’s Word and pass it on to others with the prayer that God will use it for His intended purposes? (Isa. 55:11).

Do a deed of simple kindness,
Though its end you may not see;
It may reach, like widening ripples,
Down a long eternity. —Norris

As the blossom can’t tell what becomes of its fragrance,
we can’t tell what becomes of our influence.

Read: Isaiah 55:8-11

My Word . . . shall not return to Me void. —Isaiah 55:11

Will add you to my prayer list my Friend. While my issues are not life threatening they are painful. You are fighting for your life. And I pray to our great Lord that you win this battle.

Just getting them to LISTEN is half the issue, most give you 5 mins, and herd you out with another pill. These new docs are finding the causes, and will fix what can be fixed. No more fooling with Ortho’s who only give useless nerve blocks.

Getting old is not for the faint of heart.

God’s blessings on you, for what we ask in His name surly His Father will grant it.

I certainly will add your friend, Debbie, to my prayer list. I do hope that the results will be something less than cancer, B.Gramma. We have so many hurting friends and we all need to pray for each and every one at any moment of the day. I also need prayers for the upper back pain I have been experiencing for about a month now. I take pain pills for my hip and it pretty well stays under control but it does not lessen the pain in the upper back and its so hard for me to understand.

We must all pray for one another as it seems a lot of us are suffering these days.

Gail, I am so sorry that you have so many health issues at this time and I certainly will pray for some relief for you. It gets so exhausting going from doctor to doctor trying to get help when nothing seems to help. So many friends are hurting on this thread from many different issues. I do pray for all my friends here and I will try to pray more that all will find some comfort and relief.

I did enjoy the wonderful video....music and video. Thank you, dear Gail.
