Obama Microeconomics: Guns are Butter
right now | vanity

In November 2011 there where 1.5 million background checks for gun purchases and in December 2011 there were even more. A total of 3+ million gun sales in 60 days. (Merry Christmas!)

Let’s play with these numbers based on gross statistics, neglecting multiple gun purchases (no stats) per person we have:

Roughly, 1 in 100 persons in the US bought a gun in 60 days.

1 in 194,000 persons bought a Chevy Volt in those 60 days.

10,000 Chevy Volts was the 2011 production target for Government Motors and they fell short of that target.

10,000 guns were sold every 5 hours in these 60 days.

There is roughly one sworn peace officer per four hundred citizens in the US.

1 in 400 persons bought a gun every 15 days.

In other words…every time a cop cashes a two week pay check a citizen buys a gun.

Under Obama microeconomics it’s not a choice of Guns or Butter, guns are butter. Guns, gold and food stores (defensive accumulation) are “the butter“. Amassing these items is seen widely as a productive pursuit -if not simply a source comfort. Under the Obama Regime, first timers, even liberals are buying guns in record numbers. Guns are even now considered thoughtful Christmas gifts.

Under Obama microeconomics Chevy Volts are “the guns“.

I’m probably going to get flamed even by some conservatives and gun owners, but the only thing wrong with that article is the background checks. The 2nd Amendment does not say, “...shall not be infringed, unless the government sees fit.” It applies to all free citizens. If someone’s behavior has rendered him unfit to enjoy his constitutional rights and self-protection, he should be locked up (says she who just moved to NJ, where our “conservative” governor will not allow us to protect ourselves without “character references” and all sorts of other ridiculous requirements :-(

I wish someone had given me a gun for Christmas!

However, I did buy two for myself in December.

(Merry Christmas to me!)

It's a lot easier to spread butter on toast than a M1911.
Even the NRA thinks so.

It's tastier too.

I have a friend who is moving to Irvine, California this Spring (crazy, yes, I agree completely) and I was considering getting him a handgun of some sort as a going away/take care of yourself and your family present. Then I looked at the California gun laws.

Good grief!!!

I spent two hours trying to decipher the bureaucratic nonsense and get down to the bare bones of the laws. Now I'm not sure if I want to follow through on my plan of a handgun; it could land him in jail for a couple of years for simply defending himself or his family if the slightest thing is not in the fullest compliance of the law.

Maybe a shotgun would be better. There are still a lot of laws involving them, but not nearly as many as pistols.
