Why did Establishment media go after Cain, yet leave it to The Enquirer to go after John Edwards?

Some time back, reports broke about John Edward's supposed extra-marital doings, and the establishment media wouldn't touch it, leaving it to The Enquirer. But the establishment media, or at least a component of it, seems to have no problem doing what seems to be the opposite with Herman Cain.

Does the establishment (the political component of it?) want Romney to face Obama?

McCain, we were told over and over again, was the toughest guy for Obama to face, and the best choice for Republicans. The MSM, on-the-other-hand, talked incessantly about how they were (at the same time) concerned that Obama would have to face McCain. Now the MSM is giving the same song and dance about Romney.

With Romney, you may not get gigantic gov't like you get with Obama's policies, but you will get big gov't. Borrow-and-spend will continue either way. Romney leans left on social policies, while Obama is fully to the left. With Romney, you can see past videoes about him saying that RomneyCare could be a model for the nation (a state mandate mind you, yet a HC mandate nonetheless). And the list goes on and on.

RINOs want Romney, and DINOs would rather have him than Cain, Ron Paul or Bachmann as president...

BTW, the question in the thread title is a rhetorical question. The answer is self-evident.

On the Politico website on the front page the first 12 stories are on Cain. They’re having a meltdown.

The establishment (G.O.P. Rino elite, democrats and the msm) did not fear John Edwards. Herman Cain scares the HELL out of them.

The media kept quiet on Edwards to help propel Obama. If he was out early, Hillary would have gained steam and gotten the nomination.

If Hermain Cain is elected President, it will be the end of elites and the left as we know them.

The back-room elite wanted Obama more than they wanted Hillary, that is true, and the same is true that they want to knock down Herman Cain. They don’t want Cain, Paul or Bachmann to get the nom.

As we can see so far, the MSM first went after Bachmann, then Perry, now Cain, while largely ignoring Paul along the way.

Romney would be extremely easy for Obama to defeat. All he would need to do would be to create a series of vidoes showing Romney’s positions. For example, juxtapose Romney saying we needed to reduce greenhouse gasses (when he was governor) with Romney’s recent climate change skepticism.

Liberals won’t vote for him because he won’t pass cap-and-tax.

Conservatives won’t vote for him because he will.

Independents won’t vote for him because he flip-flops worse than Kerry.

Because an extra-marital affair which produced a love child and was denied, is not as important as telling a woman she is same height as the wife. Come on....can’t you understand the seriousness of that “upto my chin” statement? /S

Why did Newsweek pass on reporting Clinton-Lewinsky, leaving Drudge to break the story?

Why? because they have no shame, no morals
and no memory of what a journalist once was,
and they are biased.

And they are scared to death of his true Christian faith——muslims are scared to death also, as is the NAACP communists and the judges promoting Sharia law.

They already succeeded in making Paul appear to be a kook which progressed for a decade at least.... The hole Paul has to get out of is pretty entrenched and deep—they don’t worry about him much. They have been creating the “image” of Paul for decades and the perceptions are really hard to throw off. MSM is very powerful in creating perceptions....and since they lie and are communist/atheists they have a one world agenda and destroy those who dare get in the way. Paul isn’t a threat yet, Cain just might be.
