Skip to comments.999 caller mistakes moon for UFO

The caller told police that he had seen a UFO with "big bright lights" hovering in his back garden.
Taking the call seriously the female operator can be heard logging the bizarre information before asking if the UFO was making any "engine noise".
The caller replied that it was not, telling her: "I thought it was an aeroplane at first and then its just hovering with all these lights on."
After being told local authorities would investigate his claims, the caller hung up, only to ring back minutes later to confess that he had made an embarrassing mistake.
When asked by the call handler what he had seen, the man replied sheepishly: "You're not going to believe this, you're not going to believe it, it's the moon."

Now that’s funny. LOL! As an old X-Files fan, I love it.
Explains the use of the term “lunacy.”
Before calling 911, you should always ask someone if the object you’re looking at is the moon or a UFO.
At least he didn’t get lost in an apple orchard.
The term “drunken” comes to mind, too.
Pass the butter please.
Honest mistake. Could happen to anyone.
I once had the fight of my life fending off an alien interloper who broke into the bedroom to get some kind of fluid samples.
When I awoke it turned out just to be a “rogue pillow”.
OR WAS IT ?!?! (cue spooky music)
That's racist! I think they call it "rap".
This is as funny as the woman in Australia who claimed the UFO that ran her off the road was shaped like a Ford station wagon, except for the multicolored flames coming out of it.
A Herman Cain caller?
The only rap was my wife beating me over the head saying “wake up you moron.”
As for music I was daydreaming of the old movies were Vincent Price is playing a pipe organ for dramatic effect.
Yeah. I’m old.
In the movies, this is when the spaceship lands. A door opens. Eerie-green lights flood the roadside. Something alien steps out ... and you have a Close Encounter. Time to dial 9-1-1!
Relax. It's only Venus, the second planet from the Sun.
