He also doesn’t care if illegals get to pay in-state tuition.

What else doesn’t he care about?

Cain is the best choice for republican presidential nominee for real definable reasons. We have an opportunity to defeat Obama not only electorally, but also to defeat the crazy hopey/changey/messiah/pharoah insanity that has been foisted upon us for the last three years.

That's not to say Rick Perry isn't a decent guy, and I'm sure someone could make some argument for him having marginally better credentials in some minor area. But we must realize that if we simply defeat Obama numerically, it will leave half of the country with a bone to knaw on for the next 8 years, and we will be back to the same cycle after that. Herman Cain gives us the opportunity to defeat the entire Obama meme, the value of which is immeasurable.

Of course, CNBC writes the story from the perspective that allowing the wealthy to keep more of what they earn is “giving them money.” Douchebags.

It’s a good plan, the best introduced so far by any candidate. Shame he started yammering on about birther conspiracies instead using a little self discipline and staying focused on his tax plan. If Perry can just stay on message and avoid wandering off into silly talk, he might be able to recover and become competitive again.

“He also doesn’t care if illegals get to pay in-state tuition.”

You must be a “heartless” person.

He does seem to take a keen interest in lining the pockets of his donors with tax dollars.

He’s a face for a political faction. Has no idea what he’s doing. Expected better instincts from you. Without Palin I have no dog in this race but Perry isn’t it. He’s a joke. Makes Bush look professorial.

Prepare yourself for an onslaught of hate-filled RP posts. It is amazing how so many FReepers despise Rick Perry more than Obama.

I like Cain also.

To be fair though, it was Cain who declared he would not be VP for Perry.

In effect, if there is conflict between the two, Cain started it. He owns any tension between the two.

Don’t forget that, as you watch the two...

Perry has charisma. That matters.

Cain seems to have declared himself opposed to Perry. Which is unfortunate.

The two of them together could be quite powerful.

Perry’s tax plan is certainly a joke. It’s being hyped as a “flat tax” but it’s anything but. It keeps the entire existing tax code as is but adds on top of it the option to choose to pay 20%, if under the existing code you owe more than 20%.

So the 49% who currently pay no income tax continue to pay nothing, and the people who benefit from all the loopholes who currently pay less than 20% still pay the same with their loopholes. Only those who currently pay more than 20% get a tax cut down to 20%.

In reality it’s not a flat tax it’s the same current tax code with a cap at 20% maximum tax.

Perry is a buffoon.

Things are starting to crystallize. Although I like Cain, he’s not yet ready for prime time. The gaffes due to political inexperience are starting to pile up.

At this point, and things may change, my take is Romney is going to be the one unless conservatives unite behind Perry.
