I will say this for the guy, can you possibly imagine him going after Obama in a debate, like the way he went after Romney last week? ...Man, I’ll tell you what, I would love to see Obama get flustered like Romney did...This guy is a scrapper... that said, I’m more of a Cain man.

Nobody here despises Perry more than Obama. I despise Mitt equally to Obama, but unlike for Mitt, I could pull the lever for Perry in the general election. I won’t in the primary as long as there’s better options. And there is.

You say he has charisma, I say he has a marketing face. He hasn’t once come across as though he’s his own man or believable. Every time I’ve seen him he seems like he’s not there. Like he’s drugged. Honest opinion. He has no chance.

FR has gone totally dysfunctional and filled with idiotic class warfare disguised as politics. Never thought I would see the time when so many FReepers think being taxed more is a solution to our problems.

He’s a purposeful buffoon. They gop tried to get us on board the perry train and then pull the rug out beneath us when the primaries came and force us on romney. It’s not complex. Not sure that I’m a Cain fan as he doesn’t seem to know what he’s getting into. Funny I was wondering what the heck Gingrich was doing in the race but if I had to vote today it would be for Gingrich or Cain.

And he thinks it would be a good idea to seize land below market price using eminent domain, build a huge toll road using public funds and going into debt, lease that toll road to a foreign corporation, and then sign a legal agreement barring the state of Texas from widening the north/south interstates in the future so said foreign corporation would make more money.

I will oppose La Raza Rick and continue to convince other Texans to do the same whether or not he can climb back out of the single digit support range (unlikely, I know) to claim the Republican nomination.

If anyone isn’t ready for Prime Time yet it is Perry. The guy has spent his entire life in politics yet sounds like a complete buffoon in these debates and continues to shoot himself in the foot.

Atleast Cain is a campaigning novice with an excuse to make a misstep here and there. He’s finding himself and will be much stronger by the end of it.

Perry has been doing this forever and he still stinks at it, which speaks volumes about him.

Conservatives unite behind Perry? Umm, how about conservatives unite behind a conservative?

That’s the Rick Perry I like. I don’t know who the hell’s been attending the debates.

That would be because he represents much the same ideology on some issues that matter while falsely claiming to have become a Republican.

So yeah, the wolf in sheep's clothing merits a harsher condemnation than the wolf running with the pack.

Its appropriate.

Mr. Herman Cain. Loud and Proud!

Cain will get squeezed out in time due to lack of organization and money. Pubbies will ultimately have to choose Romney or Perry. The Tea Party will reject Mitt. The Country Clubbers will reject Perry. The GOP goes to DEFCON 2.

No Mitt, In Texas we have started a campaign to send illegals to Massachusetts, where Mitt Romney has introduced RomneyCare, the 'FREE' taxpayer-provided health care for illegals. In Texas, we have a plan to make money off the illegals, for as long as Obama is letting come on over across the Rio Grande.

Very refreshing!

After all, Perry is a Reagan conservative.

No one is watching the debates. It’s WAY to early. The debates are irrelevant.

Support Cain and you’re going to get Romney.

George Bush sucked at debates, too. Terrible. But he had political experience and organization. Like Perry has.

Pick your poison - Romney or Perry. It will not be Cain, no matter how much you wish it.

Reality bites.

Perry wants to lower taxes for some. That’s good. Others want to increase revenues, and government employees/recipients at all levels and in both political parties are cheering one of ‘em on. That’s a no-go. No new taxes!

He also doesn’t care if illegals get to pay in-state tuition.

From the words of your post, you seem to be perfectly OK with illegals going to college in Texas. Your issue seems to be whether they should pay instate or out of state tuition rates.

That being said, in order to qualify for instate tuition for Texas universities, you must be domiciled here. That means that you're paying taxes here. If you are the child of an illegal, then you must be domiciled in Texas for 3 years prior to high school graduation.

These people are paying the exact same relevant taxes as every other resident of Texas. They are not taking away any slot from any other student. They are not getting taxpayer subsidized tuition. If they are to be admitted into Texas schools, which you don't seem to have any issue with, then it doesn't make sense for them to pay out of state tuition when they have been paying into the system.

I would, however, suggest that you contact your Texas Senator and Representative and see how they voted for Texas residency requirements for Texas taxpayers regarding Texas universities. If your Senator/Rep was in office for these votes, chances are they voted to support this bill. That's evidenced by the Texas Legislature voting almost 100% to support this bill. If you don't approve of they way they voted, I would suggest you try and convince them to overturn the law 2 years from now during the next legislative session. If that's not a route you want to follow, then I would suggest you start working on getting this issue on the ballot in order to change the Texas Constitution.

Since you care so deeply about this, I have to assume you're from Texas. I mean, this only affects Texas residents and nobody else, and Perry has clearly stated that this is a state issue.

I’ve lived with Bush and Perry as Governors. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Perry isn’t my first choice, or even my second or third choice, but the idea that he isn’t a smart man and a savvy politician is simply born of unthinking partisanship. It is also evidence that the left lives rent free in your head.

Perry is more conservative and a much better speaker than Bush ever was. I don’t agree with all of his policies, but he is conservative overall and comes from humble beginnings, which is why the Bushes and the R establishment hate him.
