Looks like it was planned to me.
I had the same thoughts. Minor league games are notorious for featuring between innings hijinks like this. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if this was staged. If so, good job to the promotional staff for making it look so real!
I knew this was from the UK when the word pitch was used. That’s a cricket term for where the main action takes place on a cricket field.
Does not explain why the second video the security got to climb the ladder? Would have been easily to believe it might have been planned, if the ladder crashed to the ground while the security guy was climbing the ladder? But still funny.
Indeed it was.....but that's the nature of minor league baseball. Fun for the family and especially the kids without mortgaging your house to pay for the tickets, parking and the food and a chance to see good, up and coming kids that might one day make it to the majors and who are willing to interact with the fans and sign autographs and take pictures with the kids.....
Where I live, there's been serious talk for a number of years about building a minor league stadium but the politics involved have made it impossible. In the past 30 years I think I have been to a Detroit Tiger ballgame maybe 3 times. If a minor league team were to come to fruition, I'd be a regular hangout at their games.
Minor league baseball is where the real game is played and viewed the way the sport should be..............
Somewhere, Bill Veeck is smiling.
True. I would much rather go see the Lowell Spinners (MA) than the Boston Red Sox in Fenway. I spend about 1/10th the money and see a game that really matters to the people playing it, because this is their last chance to get to the big leagues. You also get that crazy in between innings stuff with the pickup trucks and the people dressed like chickens running around. One of the best in between innings shows I saw was “Buzz The Winter Dog”, a border collie who would run through giant hula hoops that were lit on fire and then would run around the ballpark, catching frisbees from a trainer in a golf cart and then hurling them into the crowd with its teeth by snapping its head around. Crazy stuff. That dog should have been on Letterman. Never did figure out why they called it “Buzz The Winter Dog”.
I envy you......We have a couple minor league teams here in Michigan but the closest is well over a hundred miles away.
As a side note, I'm a senior now and play softball 4 mornings a week.......At a local softball complex they just held a "Majors" tournament this weekend with a homerun derby Friday night.......
I dropped by yesterday to watch a couple games (free of course) and had the pleasure of watching the best softball team in the country, if not the world, play. A team out of Florida called "Resmondo"......
Great entertainment and great softball. My only complaint is that the fences should be at least 400 ft instead of the standard 300 ft. which would even out the competition...if only a little bit.
Actually it’s from Wisconsin looking at the ads on the outfield wall.
I meant where the headline and the report came from. Link goes to the Daily Mail from England.
