Real Time Update:
Is Sea Shepherd's Brigitte Bardot scarier than Godzilla to Japanese whalers?
by Martin Dunphyon July 15, 2011at 12:52 PM
During a wide-ranging interview with Paul Watson today, the head honcho for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, answering a question about his stable of ships, touched on the subject of renaming one of them.
The speedy Gojira (Godzilla) recently became the Brigitte Bardot after lawyers contacted Sea Shepherd with concerns about trademark violations regarding the famous movie-monster franchise.
"The only thing scarier than Godzilla," Watson said with a chuckle, "is Godzilla's lawyers."
Apparently, Japanese newspaper headlines screaming about that country's whalers "fleeing from Godzilla" in the Antarctic brought the transgression to the sharpies' attention.
Former movie sex kitten and now animal activist (and kitten protector) Bardot worked with Watson in his Greenpeace days back in the late 1970s to protest the annual Canadian East Coast seal hunt.
Please keep me out of this. I cheer for the whalers.
I used to watch disovery in the 90s. It’s was OK, a bit less leftist mind control than the major networks, I thought.
Still, it always had a kind of kooky edge, and it was like you *almost* learned something. But you can learn way more on the Internet.
I haven’t watched in ~10 years. What’s it like now?
Obviously Animal Planet is a total waste of time...
So do most of us. Thet’s why the unofficial title is Hippies Failing Badly.
“The only thing scarier than Godzilla,” Watson said with a chuckle, “is Godzilla’s lawyers.”
“And the only thing scarier than Godzilla’s lawyers, is Bridgett Bardot! He added, and then broke into uncontrolled fiemdish laughter.
I break myelf up sometimes.
You should ping the person you’re talking about, especially when he’s already been on the thread.
I hate killing Whales. But the Captain should have his credentials yanked. PC is the only reason he is allowed to violate the rules of the road. The Coast Guard is compromised to PC.
[You should ping the person youre talking about, especially when hes already been on the thread.]
I mentioned no one other than the movie character Godzilla. Point is moot.
Humor. Not for everyone.

I notice that Animal Planet now has a disclaimer at the beginning of the show to make sure everyone knows they had nothing to do with the naming of the Gojira.
I notice that couple weeks ago LOL!
Since the Gojira is in port with two broken engines the "Engine Malfunction" block is a free space tonight.
