Obama: I Underestimated Magnitude Of The Recession        Advertisements [?]

  Source: Talking Points Memo

President Obama openly acknowledged underestimating the length and magnitude of the worst recession since the Great Depression in a response to a question during his Twitter town hall.

Always a tough question to answer, Obama was asked what mistakes he made in handling the economic crisis and what he would have done differently looking back on his first months in office.

Obama freely admitted that he would have tried to do a better job explaining "to the American people it was going to take a while to get out of this."

"Even I didn't realize the magnitude -- because most economists didn't realize the magnitude -- of the recession until" it was many months into his presidency, Obama said Wednesday.

“Frances Fox Piven is proud of me”

I think that the crash right before the election was created to help get Obama elected. On one hand it might have been thought to create a short-term fear for the election, but it got out of control.

On the other hand, it may have just been the trigger to get Obama where he could continue to quote “recreate America on a new foundation”. Of course to build on a new foundation you have to tear out the old one. And everything he is doing is tearing down the foundation of America - capitalism, free enterprise, and individual liberty. I think we are down to about two footings and half a slab away from his goal.

See my tagline for an old thread on FDR and the New Deal. It is ALL happening again.

Obama may be an idiot, but his handlers aren’t. They want the economy to crash and burn.

The following link is to an old FR thread, about an even older conservative booklet called “The Revolution Was”, written in 1938 about FDR and the New Deal. It is ALL happening again - amazingly, chillingly so. Only worse.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2185147/posts

An Excerpt:

Worse outwitted were those who kept trying to make sense of the New Deal from the point of view of all that was implicit in the American scheme, charging it therefore with contradiction, fallacy, economic ignorance, and general incompetence to govern.....

Regarded from the point of view of revolutionary technic it made perfect sense. Its meaning was revolutionary and it had no other.....

The effect was to keep people excited about one thing at a time, and divided, while steadily through all the uproar of outrage and confusion a certain end, held constantly in view, was pursued by main intention.

The end held constantly in view was power.

Obama, you are going down.

I am spreading the following all over Chicago and people are loving it. Yes, I first saw this posted somewhere on FR.

“OK, you voted for Obama to prove you are NOT a racist. Great. Now vote for someone else to prove you are not an idiot.” People are loving it here.

Obama, your days are numbered. : )

The greatest economic threat facing America today isn’t Congress, and it isn’t Obama, it’s ECONOMIC IGNORANCE.

In a world where a large percentage of sheeple actually believe that GOVERNMENT creates wealth and jobs, and that an unemployment check is “Stimulus”, because a bunch of gay Democrats on TV told them so, we’re screwed.

I sent that same SIGN to all my friends, and have gotten the same response from them.

They are all going to use this as their own. It is so simple, so true and so to the point, nothing more is needed.

Thanks for reminding us all again. amd many thanks to the originator and pray we have permission to steal it. lol

These people don’t live on any planet I recognize. They seem to think Obama has failed because he’s some sort of supply-sider.

“I misunderstood the depth of the recession.”

No biggie. A majority of the voters misunderstood the depth of Obama.

I loved this one...

“Not only is he now selling out our country’s most vulnerable citizens and telling everyone that he agrees with Republican assessments of the economy and what has to be done to fix it....

...he now adds for them the cherry on top statement that he was too economically stupid to understand any of this while he was running for President. How long until THAT is a political ad? Even if by some miracle he finds his spine now, he is on record admitting to being an economic dunce.

What a winner for Dems this guy turned out to be.

Primary him.”

;o)

One note, though...he was briefed on the economy from the time he was a candidate, unless he refused those briefings.

Nevertheless, he was definitely briefed after his election, well before he took office.
