FORT PIERCE, Fla.- Florida police said they are searching for a pair of women videotaped stealing 75 sticks of deodorant from a Winn Dixie store.
Investigators said the women took the Secret and Gillette brand deodorants from the store at US 1 and Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce at about 6 p.m. Monday, WPEC-TV, West Palm Beach, reported Friday.
Police said they suspect the women took the deodorant to be sold at a small convenience store

If it takes that much to get rid of the stink it might be the better part of wisdom not to pursue them.

Weird, it doesn't seem that deodorant would be worth stealing for resale, I wonder if its used in some sort of drug recipe. If so, don't tell the feds or we'll have to go through the third degree just to buy our Ban Roll-On like with Sudafed.

Incorrect. Small “household” items such as these are precisely what professional thieves steal for resale. The total value of the stolen items never reaches the point where a felony can be charged.

These are custom order thieves. A competitor puts in an order with them, They steal the product and resell it to the competitor at a huge discount off wholesale.
I remember when I was a kid, we has an appliance store selling applances cheaper than all of the competitors. All the competitors were suffering break ins. It didn't take too long for police to put 2 and 3 together.

If she has a little neighborhood convenience store, and she gets most of her stock by theft or fraud (food stamp, WIC) then it’s very worth stealing for resale. She would have sold the deodorant for at least $200.
