I like your selection of fishes; especially fresh caught salmon out of the Columbia, then poached lightly with fresh dill and lemon then drizzled with butter.

Up here in the colder northeast we seldom see one bigger than two pounds, and most are less than a pound.

Local name for them is Calico bass.

Yeah, it’s about a 5 hour drive. My bud runs a Boy Scout camp on the lake and I often go up there to camp out on holiday weekends because the Scouts won’t be there. Prime piece of property, 300 acres with a beach and boat ramp. I love it up there, many fond memories.

Yeah, the weatherliars are predicting more storms over there. I know you guys have had it pretty rough over the last couple of months, so far the camp has escaped anything too serious but it has come close a couple of times.

I’m taking my mountain bike so I can hit Cedar Glades, if the rain isn’t too bad. If it is, I’ll just veg at the camp.

Wall eye isn’t a fun fish to catch, it just lays on the bottom of the lake and you think you have a snag, but fried in beer batter they sure are tasty...Had a friend with a secret beer batter receipt that was delicious with walleye

In Minnesota most people stay away from eating crappie or northern pike in the summer months. Crappie caught in warm water just seems mushy and a bit too fishy tasting to me. Crappie caught under the ice is wonderful though. Walleye are good any time of year, as are bluegill and perch.

Lake Verret, 4 Mile Bayou and Grassy lake, know them places rather well.
Do most of my fishing now in back of Houma, Turtle Bayou, Bayou Copasaw areas and side canals off of the Intracoastal canal.
