What is better than good crappie?
sometime before Obama gets his a kicked | little old me

I don't think there is better fish to eat than crappie. Tuna is good, bass is OK, catfish can be tasty, but there ain't nothing better than good Arkansas crappie.

Talk about bones though, them things are full of tiny pieces of skeletal matter. But at least you can eat and swallow without injury.

Bull, yeah, I’ve et a few of them too. We call ‘em perch in TX.

The friggin’ jet ski dipchits will make you nutz about 7 in the AM sometimes,

I learned this early on in life, when a jetskier intrudes you cast at the BACK of his lifevest. 12lb test on a small metal bullfrog-type pole is best.

It’s a catch and release operation, of course, at least in Texas. They don’t issue tags for jetskiers... yet.

Now, that is just rude. Go eat some of that if you prefer it to good freshwater swimmers.

Fresh water is a relative term in PA. LOL. Seriously, we do have good fishing for them here, it is just easier to find Sunnys and the like where I go. If I am having a good day freshwater fishing, I hit a Catfish. They are just fun to catch. I generally only eat the Sunnys because I like their taste better than Bass, Shad or the occasional Trout. They are just a pain in the a$$ to clean because of their size.

That is a pretty nice fish, but not on par with Froggy’s slabber he posted.

Have a great and blessed Easter, all you evil FReepers.

Would you eat “croppy”? Maybe all it needs is a spelling change, not a name change.

Maybe call it “scrappy” if it puts up a good fight.

Or is there already a fish with that name?

Sounds mighty fine, but let's not forget our good pal the Smelt!

Yet!

My bud has a nice beach there in Bismarck. We have toyed with the idea of a water balloon slingshot, but the darn game warden alway comes by about the time we are locked and loaded ;)

Talk about bones though, them things are full of tiny pieces of skeletal matter.

Only keep the ones big enough to fillet with electric knife.
Biggest Sac-a-lait I ever caught went 2 3/4 Lb. in Lake Verette.

The friggin’ jet ski dipchits

I just give them a dirty look.......Setting in my 18 foot bass boat with a 175 HP hanging on the back end.
They tend to stay away :^)

Smelt, SMELT, talk about a bad name.

I will hear no more making fun of the name “crappie.”

Sorry, don’t know LA that well, where the heck is Verette?

Why give them a look when you can give them a one-ounce Rat-l-trap or Rapala right in the scapula? Says it way better than your face can.

Crappie is among the best of freshwater fish... but I put Walleye ahead of it in every way.

Somebody tried to sell me on walleye not long ago.

The jury in my belly is still out on that, don’t think I have ever et any.

Is pepper and olive oil good on one of those beasts?

South Louisiana, around the towns of Morgan City, Thibodaux and Houma.......basically Atchafalaya Basin area. Lots of good fresh water and semi-inland salt water fishing in those areas.

Note, also spelled Lake Verret on road maps and Verette on some fishing maps. Pronounced the same.

Houma huh? I can’t recall the name but there was a drag racer from down there, seems like he drove funny cars.

What was that guy’s name?

I like LA, been around there some. I had a blast in Nawlins back years before Katrina. Yeah, it was stinky and dirty, but I had a blast and rubbed up against some fun happy peoples.

I’m mostly familiar with the more northern parts. I like coonasses. You know that old joke?

What is the difference between a horse’s ass and a coon ass?

The Sabine River.

Bwhahahahaha. Stay safe, and keep catching them fish out of the Atchafalaya, that is a wonderous place.

Where to start: North west coast chinook (king)salmon, Filet of Sole, Hawaiian Opakapaka, Ono, Mahi Mahi, North coast Halibut, that's a starter.
