If it really happens, I for one will hoist a schooner of Dogfish 60. I'll laugh my lips off, let's do this!
I don't think they have the cajones to do it, but I guess it could happen.
I hope they shut 'er down. I don't need a passport, and though I'd love to visit a Nat Park right now, it ain't in the cards, so I don't think I care. As long as they keep paying our beautiful military folks I don't care if I don't get mail for a while, most of my good stuff comes in on the back of UPS or FedEx. I hope the Congress doesn't get pay during the outage of the Federal Teat, that will be fun to watch. I'm betting the Reps will fold like a cheap piece of toilet paper and give in to Obamalamadingdong, but maybe they will tell him to stuff it. I hope so, I don't think it affects me all that much. Life will go on, we'll all still have food and fuel and water, but a few hunnerd thousand useless pencil pushers will be agonizing they are not pulling down them big bux on our backs.
Let's have an online party Friday night about midnight or so.
Who's wit me?
I find this somehow oddly appropriate.
Oh, yer a mean one ain’t ya?
Have one on me bro.
We can call it Bernake Beer, Geithner Gut bomb or Barry Brew.
I’m sticking to my normal domestic adult refreshments. Johnny O’Daniels, Buttwiper, and Dogfish.
I’m thoughtful like that ;)
Hell, since this regime came in my Scotch consumption has skyrocketed anyway.
Try this sometime. I'm only buying the airline bottles (all I can afford) and it's good!
Dang boi, that looks tasty.
I have some in a tall shot glass as we speak.
Come to think of it, I will be breaking it out regardless. It is Friday night after all.
Who needs a bunch of pesky Rangers at a Park anyway. Just go.
Pull out that 6 pak of Billy beer from the collection case..
I am for a shutdown too, but I know the dims are playing this for political gain. Just like last time.
I’m in - it would be fun to have Americans having parties from coast to coast to celebrate the shutdown of the slow, stupid, mean dinosaur we’re supposed to miss so much.
As long as they keep paying our beautiful military folks
Ive been following this on Military.com and so far its uncertain if they will get paid.
I remember way back when, my pay was screwed up. The civilian pay clerk told me with a straight face that I should have three months pay saved up and shouldnt be concerned.
I, for one, am not with you. While you all tip back your beers in celebration of the fact that thousands of federal employees get furloughed and those who continue working (military included) start getting IOUs my family and many others who are federal employees that are about to be impacted by this shutdown will be figuring out how to pay the bills when we stop getting paychecks.
As hardworking individual who earns my pay and actually understands what the words “public servant” mean I can’t help but resent the sentiment here that all public employees are little more than worthless parasites who get fat off the backs of others.
Anybody who thinks that a government shutdown is a good idea is a fool. In the long run it will end up costing more due to loss of productivity. The economy can ill afford to have over 800,000 jobs be furloughed/unpaid at this point in time.
Anybody thinking any good will come of this is playing straight into the Democrat’s plans for the 2012 elections. They’ll be able to paint the blame onto conservatives and Obama can use it to discredit any opposition.
Fools
May your celebratory libations taste like the piss of a thousand horses.
Bob, I cannot dispute a word you say. Perhaps yours is the coolest head in all this. It really matters not a bit what any of us think, the pols are going to do what they do.
Still, in spite of the obvious drawbacks, it might be interesting to see how this goes down.
Stay safe FReeper.
