Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles are preparing to embark on human trials after promising results in rabbits.

Their drug reached brain cells and reduced muscle and movement problems.

The Stroke Association said it was the "first significant research" suggesting that the compound could aid stroke patients.

Pick the bacon back up. Numbness is a pinched nerve not cholesterol.

How do you get the good cholesterol to come up? Hes’s tried the nician and can’t stand the flush, even with the time release one, and the Trigcerides which is his worst score (SP?) to go down...hubby won’t give up his starches...he’s a meat and potato man and 70.

Plain old lecithin can help the body handle cholesterol and triglycerides.

You might go to a health food store and ask for powdered lecithin.
And actually, compared to alot of stuff that’s “good” for you, it’s pretty tolerable. I mix a tablespoon in with a cup of yogurt and have it that way or sprinkle it over a green salad, it has a smooth texture, slightly nutty flavor.

And it also has phosphated Inositols, which are starting to hit the radar as having pretty potent anti-cancer properties.

And don’t forget the exercise!

I believe it is. There was an announcement a few years ago, saying the same thing, after a study had been done. Don’t know why it’s considered so ground-breaking now.

What about the liquid tabs? He does 50 sit ups a day, and 30 mins on the Gazelle. It is also an inherited trait. The cholesterol meds give him leg cramps. I’d love to get him off the med.

I’ve got him on CoQ10, 1,000 mg D, a men’s multi, Saw Palmetto, Collegan, and Osteo-By-Plex or some brand of that stuff. He has Osteo-A in his shoulders, knees, had one partially replaced last year and that made a world of difference. Had one shoulder cleaned out, but it didn’t help the pain.

sensible people already know

The Internet is/can be a great tool and communication device.

I find copious amounts of interesting and worthwhile information.

When I was having strange pains in my leg and looked up the possible explanations, I was forearmed when I went to the doc.

When he said "I don't think you have a blood clot in your leg, but I can schedule an ultrasound in the big town if you want." I wanted.

When they told me that clot was 14"-16" long and their doc would let my doc know and they would let me know on a treatment plan the next day I was mildly surprised when I rolled into the driveway and my wife came running out the door and said "GET BACK IN THE CAR , you have to get these Heparin shots started RIGHT NOW".

So the info I found on this internet thing was valuable.

But in the general day to day thing I rely on the things my people taught me ( and STILL teach me).

They either lived into their 80's and nineties, or are still living into their late seventies and early eighties.

I find it strange that a seemingly large number of people stake their general welfare on the opinions of strangers.

No, I find it frightening.

No, I find it pathetic.

P.S. The Falls Brand sausage links are $1.20 cheaper (in the 2 lb. package) at Sam's Club than they are at Winco...

The Atkins diet lowered my cholesterol from 212 to 186 in about forty days.

It'll be kind of spendy, but for the arthritis, you might consider taking hyaluronic acid (100 mg a day).

You can get a bottle of 120 capsules (60 days' worth) at vitacost.com for about $19.

No, I don't work for Vitacost, I just shop there.

It worked for Mrs. Whiskers when Glucosamine-Chondroitrin by itself did not.

For more on hyaluronic acid, try this.

BTW, good on your husband for the Vitamin D and CoQ10. :-)

Cheers!

His biggest number is in the Trigicerides, LDL is to low barely hitting 43, HDL just hits 200. Gives him a heart attack rate of 4.

That is starchy veggies, he is not about to give up his ‘taters’ as he puts it.

I bake, broil, grill or crock pot 99% of all the food we eat. Very little fat in the form of oil is used. Pizza is a once in a while treat. Spaghetti once a month. I’ve reduced his bread intake to 2 slices of diet whole wheat once a day, and have been feeding him oatmeal with a small amount of walnuts and raisins daily.

Potatoes is the biggest problem according to his doctor.

Heck I don’t know of any thing else that I can do. He’d eat all the meat I put in front of him...but he wants that potato in some form on the plate with it.

hyaluronic acid is one of the ingredients in the Osteo-by-flex I buy him, it may not be enough though (went and looked 36. mg only). That stuff is not cheap about $25 a bottle, I usually get the BOGO with a coupon at Walgreens or Krogers.

Which is why I added Collagen to his vit regime as it is good for skin and joints.

I take more stuff than he does Coral Calcium, D, Collagen, Acai, E, C, Cranberry, B6, B 12, Acidopholis, Osteo-by-flex, fish oil (freeze it and no after taste, no having to buy the expensive stuff). Multi’s have something in them that makes me have stomach issues. So I opted for the main vits as singles.

I’ll look for the hyaluronic acid and see if it will help, as we both have Osteo A. He’s had those shots in his shoulders and knees and they only work for a few weeks.

I’ve tried Malic Acid for my Fibromyalgia with no success.
