Pastor James Brown Jr. of the Covenant Baptist Church in Barnesville, Ga., wants his state legislature to pass a bill that permits churchgoers to carry firearms to worship at his church. Joining him in the effort is Pastor Joe Morecraft of Chalcedon Presbyterian Church in Cumming, Ga.
And the campaign is just getting started.
The bill, HB 54, was introduced in late January by Republican state Rep. Bobby Franklin, who serves the state's 43rd district.
If passed, it will repeal a section of a law prohibiting individuals from carrying guns in a church setting. Currently, the state's "Common Sense Lawful Carry Act" (SB 308) prohibits guns in government buildings, courthouses, prisons, schools, nuclear facilities, mental health institutions and places of worship.

Our pastor has encouraged people who are licensed to carry, to carry in church.
The men in our church and some of the women went a got right to carry permits. I was going to go but was sick at the time. If my memory serves me, it was a 2 day training course and then a test. It’s been a couple of years ago.
Not a bad idea.
Our laws have gotten so out of wack; the 2nd Ammendment obviates the need for “allowing” people to carry firearms.
Was it in Arizona? I have taught a number of CCW classes in churches to those interested. I always gave them a good discounted group rate.
The current law only prohibits law-abiding people from carrying in all the listed places. These places are potential killing fields, IMHO. It would be just like FT Hood or any other “gun free zone” where mass murders have occurred.
No in Michigan. It was a couple of years ago.
I encourage members to carry here in Missouri, and I’ve even drawn up letters of permission in case they’re harassed by the police if I’m not there (in case someone sees a gun while they’re on church property mowing, painting, gardening, etc.).
I believe in Constitutional Carry, but I also believe in being prudent while fighting the good fight.
Someone I know asked, “Don’t you feel scared with all those guns?” I responded that our members wouldn’t be the ones shooting at me - it’s the nut that comes through the door after the service begins that concerns me.
