Vanity: First and Foremost, The Radiation Scans and Gropes DON'T WORK!
fertile brain | 11/22/10 | self

The TSA, Homeland Security, and the Obama administration all are saying these scans and pat-downs are important to keep us safe. This is ludicrous. Terrorists are aware of America's reactionary-only airport security measures. A bomb found in the underwear? OK, that is where America will next be looking. So they'll put the next suicide bomber into the security line with C4 in his watch or sunglasses.

He may be in line behind you right now on his test run. Or does he have the stuff in his rectum, or inside a special tampon where the sun never shines on his wife? Once he gets through, oh, how loud the laughter will be back at Al Qaeda, as they watch us stripping little boys, and groping every nun, while they are already testing our ignorant security measures for their next plan. They may have discovered another of our little security flaws: our minimum wage "experts" have been taught not to single out young, Arab-looking males, so the terrorist who looks Swedish may get frisked harder than the young man from Yemen, out of America's fear worse than terror: to be thought a racist.

There is no way that checking each traveler's privates will keep us anywhere NEAR as safe as profiling each traveler's behavior.

If Homeland Security wanted no terror in the skies, they would hire military-intelligence-trained questioners to go through the security lines. With minimal loss of time and privacy, the traveling public can actually BE safe. Pretending not to be a terrorist in a dialogue with a commanding, bright interviewer is much, much harder than having a bomb stuffed in your Calvins.

Every news broadcast today in which a part of our government reacts to our outrage over these intrusive searches fails to explain how these specific maneuvers keep us so safe. They do not.

Obama, explain why you are so “invested” in such a limited response to air terror.

What bothers me is that now we have precedent for this, so what’s next??

Some disgruntled citizen with a cracked sidewalk and an agenda could invade your City Council meeting...using TSA logic, we should be scanning and patting down everyone who tries to enter City Hall. All Council needs to do is pass an Ordinance that says your presence at City Hall is consent to search you.

What about your local Courthouse? Most have metal detectors, but they don’t detect PETN either. A Courthouse has all kinds of malcontents coming in every day, so that makes an outstanding case for searches and naked scans.

How about protecting our children from another Columbine attack?? Never mind that we already have enough problems with teachers having inappropriate contact with Students...

Seriously, where do we draw the line??

This is the slippery slope, and it is being well greased. I don’t know where this ends but it ain’t gonna be pretty.

You are right. This is why we need the outrage to continue. We cannot let some slight modification pacify us. The machines are worthless at best, and taxpayer ripoffs and dangerous at worst. The gropes are only harmful and an assault to our persons and our rights as given to us by G-d and enumerated in the Constitution.

And, most especially, NEITHER search would be difficult for the enterprising terrorist to get around.

Is the government sterilizing our population with these machines ?
What are the cancer risk from these machines are to women ? to women who are pregnant ? what are the cancer risks from these machines to children ?

We need to see one of these government heads — Obama, Gibbs, Napolitano — explain how this fights terror. Americans are less interested in flying now than in late 2001. We are in fear of / outraged at our own government, not Al Qaeda. We expected more of the former.

No, and if the media DID give us some kind of exact amounts of radiation from these, they would be forced to include “if calibrated correctly,” because we as the traveling public will NEVER KNOW if any machine is calibrated correctly.

And as we all know, radiation is 1) a cumulative danger, and a @) selective danger. Obviously it would be more dangerous to a pregnant woman or someone with cancer, but there are people flying every day who do not yet KNOW that they are pregnant or will be soon diagnosed with cancer. And the younger you are, the more harmful, so those LEAST likely to blow up our planes, our little children, would be the MOST hurt by these machines.

It’s a travesty, and a very stupid one.

Nice.

The company spent 4 million on lobbying. Got a 40 million dollar contract. And we used to tithe to the church — now it’s the politicians.

These are do-nothing no education required government jobs. Cut them all. Make the airline responsible for passenger safety. All absurd.

Millions of illegals come in. Muslims being brought into the US to live. And the honest taxpaying moron Americans are stripped searched.

You're railing against the symptom. The cause of the disease is MUSLIMS. What moron muslim is going to stand in line for 2 hours to try and smuggle something on board an airplane. Hell, just run into a terminal and kill a thousand who are waiting like sitting ducks in the security check-point line.

Sure the TSA are goons and thugs. But even murdering zealot muslims aren't stupid enough to wait in line when a prime target is right in front of them. Focus on WHY nazis like these exist in the first place!

That’s about it. And if a Muslim woman gets through in her burka, she could definitely have more up her privates than Richard Reid had in his shoes.

I believe the chicken TSA guys at the airport would be scared to pat down a woman in a hijab and long dress, especially if they feared they would be filmed. And the filming would not be to put it on YouTube to generate outrage; no, it would be so the guy who comes to the TSA agent’s home that night with the knife would recognize who gloved his sister/wife/cousin!!!

Sell the porn scanners to another country and start with some military guys, and hire and pay appropriately, and train the bright, good hires.
