Glenn Beck: Lessons From the Tower of Babel

Have you ever heard of the Tower of Babel? Oh, this is fascinating. Buckle up, gang. Here we go.

It has affected each and every one of our lives and our culture. Without us really even knowing, your kids start babbling, comes from this story.

Has anybody ever called — do you remember when we were kids, "You're a Nimrod"? This story — even Bugs Bunny called Elmer Fudd a Nimrod. Why did he call him a Nimrod? Because he was a hunter. How does Bugs Bunny calling someone a Nimrod because they're a hunter tie in to the Tower of Babel? It's all there. Everything.

The Bible is not really just a history book. It is really to teach us lessons so we don't forget them. They're the most important lesson in all of man. And you see the pattern — it's always the same pattern.

Well, what is the pattern we're supposed to be looking for? It's in the Book of Genesis. After the Great Flood, everybody on Earth was getting together and then, all of a sudden, somebody had a different idea: Hey, how about we all speak one language and we'll build a tower to reach the sky. Then God wasn't happy about it and he confused the language and they all scattered. That's probably your understanding of the Tower of Babel.

I've read the story many, many times and I never understood it until I talked to friend of mine. You can read it a million times and never fully understand it, unless — unless you have a rabbi, unless you can read it in ancient Hebrew.

I can't read Hebrew, I'm guessing you can't either, but we're both in luck, because I've got my rabbi.

This Bible story is so poignant to what is happening today...and this picture is so telling.

Coincidence? Glenn and Rabbi Lapin compare the Tower of Babel to the E.U. parliamentary building

I’m reminded of a saying, also found in the Bible.

“There is nothing new under the sun.”

I’ve been urging my friends and folks for years to look at the Tower of Babel story and equate it to the one world order impulse that has infected every epoch. That’s why when I saw a main stream treatment of this issue by Glen Beck...I nearly jumped out of my chair with excitement!

We have been warned and God will soon act...just as he did at the tower of Babel. Read in Daniel about Nebuchudnezzar’s dream of the statue of gold, silver, bronze, legs of iron, and feet and 10 toes of clay and iron; read of the stone..”uncut by human hands” falls out of heaven and smashes the statue, then grows into a great mountain that fills the whole Earth. It will be God’s kingdom and knowledge of his Glory that will fill the whole Earth...just like ‘the mountain”.

I got up at 2 AM to watch the rebroadcast of this show. I remember we called each other Nimrod when I was young.

Beck also mentioned Esperanto when talking about Soros the other day:

That's a fascinating comparison!

I remember getting thoroughly lost in Strasbourg one evening in the spring of '97. We drove by this building, at the corner of two canals, that had this incredible, immense glass facade that wrapped around from the frontage of one canal to the other. It was illuminated from inside, but I couldn't see the details--busy trying to stay on the road. Thought it must have been a power plant or something.

Months later, I visited Strasbourg during the day (I had a city map this time!); I stopped across the canal this time and took pictures. Now, I could see a sign at the base of the building that explained that it was the new headquarters of the European Parliament, still under construction. "A fabulous monument to a fabulous bureaucracy," I said to noone in particular.

Many years later I found out that they already had a comparable size complex in Brussels, and that this new one had gotten very little use.

Like Big Cheese Hadden said in Contact: "Why build one when you can build two for twice the price?"

P.s.: It's right across the canal from the EC (European Commission).

It's across the other canal from le Palais du Droits L'homme (The European court of human rights, which I once translated, poetically but non-idiomatically, as "the Palace of the Rights of Man").

I saw this episode last night and was glued to my television set. It was fascinating. I adore the Rabbi. He was able to explain the bible lesson so well and with such enthusiasm. I AM NOT A BRICK; I AM A STONE! I hope Glenn does more of these lessons with modern day themes (IMHO).

Beck is an idiot...

The people already SPOKE the same language...

and the people wanted to reach God...

Just a small representation of Becks lack of research...

The Bible is the only Word of God, Beck...

Why dont you read it for yourself...

I like Beck but I do not look to him for spiritual or religion.
