Navy is also supposedly bat sh*t over this because there was no acoustic detection of sub! What about a large ship?
To: MindBender26
No. Isn’t there a Navy range in that area? I’d think it is pretty well instrumented. I don’t buy it.

Did they have a radar ‘hit’ on it?
If not, that would seem really unusual.

Mexican Cartel purchased Russian sub were given dud missle from the Rooskies....
Chaves got a new “toy” from Putin and wanted to test it out in front of the other Marxists.....

I’ve only got one idea. Unless there are some fast answers here in a few hours, we’re going to have a full blown national security crisis to deal with while our beloved trollop in chief is dancing around over seas.

Chinese showing us their subs cannot be detected
and are ready to shoot.
Mad about India.

China sending a message about QE2?
Anyway you look at it, if the government truly does not know what this was; we are being defended by keystone cops. Not good!

Somebody hit the whoops button!
I’d say Mr. Putin is just showing off. Get a sub within 35 miles of LA,and fire off a missile to prove it (kind of like the acoustic device on SPUTNIK to prove it was there).

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the "Google Guys"? Don't they live there?
Maybe they're branching out into interstellar travel.

Gotta call BS on this “don’t know what it is” line. *Someone* knows...they’re just not telling. NORAD can identify a missle by it’s signature even if they weren’t aware of an impending launch, my guess is we are getting the official PR response that has been pre-planned in the event of certain events, including this one.
“We don’t know” is a safer response than “We know, but you’re not going to like the answer”.

It looked to me from the newscast that it might have been launched from Catalina Island.
That might make it a hobby-rocket. A big one.

I’ll mention my earlier crackpot notion, and hope someone wants to shoot it down: someone (meaning our Fool in Chief) wanted to play Commander in Chief and see if he could order a launch...

Just a guess, but my money is on (if it has been confirmed that it launched at sea) that this was a demonstration of the new Chinese submarines that are so quiet. It is a very nice way of saying, “Na, na, ne, na, na. You can only shoot them down if you know they're coming.” Didn't our Master of the Universe, President Obama, make some sort of off-hand remark about looking forward to a trade war with China??? Then there was the remark to India about supporting their permanent appointment to the Security Council, or some such.
Our lenders may just be reminding him that he shouldn't talk out of turn and simply read from the script provided. A poignant way of saying, “Don't get creative.”
