Judge Judy knocks Oprah off top spot

Move over, Oprah -- there's a new daytime queen in town.

"Judge Judy" was daytime's top-rated show last season -- knocking "Oprah" off its perch for the first time since the 2000-2001 TV season.

For the 2009-10 season, "Judge Judy" averaged 6.5 million viewers -- 600,000 more viewers, on average, than "Oprah," according to Nielsen. The two shows go head to head at 4 p.m. here in New York ("Judy" on Ch. 2, "Oprah" on Ch. 7).

I think it is pathetic that either Judge Judy or Oprah even make a dent in the ratings. Then again, there is a tv or two in almost every nursing home room in the country and they mostly have these shows on all day as background noise.

I LOVE Judge Judy.

She has helped me with the law more than anyone knows. In fact, I’ve told people things that have helped with Small Claims cases that I have seen on JJ.

And when she smacks someone down, they stay down.
