Gun Owners of America (GOA) is described as "extremely radical" in Department of Justice document
Bureau of Justice Assistance (DOJ) ^ | Version 1.0 September 2005-2009 | Mark Pitcavage, et al.

Posted on 08/30/2010 11:11:43 PM PDT by deks

This Bureau of Justice Assistance (U.S. Department of Justice) document is entitled "Investigating Terrorism and Criminal Extremism - Terms and Concepts” and includes a reference to GOA, a gun rights lobbying organization. I have seen GOA mentioned on threads here, but I am not personally familiar with GOA. I believe that the right to self defense is a God given right. The Constitution should protect "the right to keep and bear arms" (firearms and other weapons usable for self defense), but that right is currently being "infringed" at all levels of government.

Here is the description of Gun Owners of America in the Bureau of Justice Assistance (DOJ) document...

“Gun Owners of America (GOA): An extremely radical gun-owning group with close ties to the militia movement. It reputedly has about 100,000 members (as opposed to the millions of NRA members). GOA is headed by Larry Pratt, a strong militia supporter who also has close ties to the white-supremacist movement.”

Hmmm... Likely a questionable and biased description of the group (as I said, I'm not familiar with GOA, although I have contributed to Virginia Citizens Defense League, Second Amendment Foundation, and National Rifle Association). I am a gun rights and knife rights advocate...and I do not intend to ignite a flame war on this thread.

From the introduction to the DOJ document, a description of its purpose...

"Investigating Terrorism and Criminal Extremism—Terms and Concepts is a glossary designed primarily as a tool for criminal justice professionals to enhance their understanding of words relating to extremist terminology, phrases, activities, symbols, organizations, and selected names that they may encounter while conducting criminal investigations or prosecutions of members of extremist organizations."

I consider Holder’s DOJ as being “extremely radical” so I guess we’re even.

GOA—terrorist group

Islam—religion of peace subject to constant hate crimes

Constitutionalist—scary believers in constitutional rights

Southern Poverty Law Center—fearless defenders of the oppressed.

New Black Panther Party—fearless defenders of American’s right to vote.

Tea Partier—scary believer in smaller government. Likely to not accept Republican candidates that we have selected for them to vote for.

Pitcavage is a very far left critter, almost as bad as that other Mark in SPLC, Potok. His academic credentials have been smacked rather ragged, and far as I know he deserves it.

His closest ideological friends, I think, would be Devin Burghart and Leonard Zeskind. You can find them here:

I guess I’m now a radical. Whatever.

President Obama,

Don’t even think of declairing martial law either this November, or the time preceeding the presidential election in 2012. You know that at least 70% of this country (growing daily!) thinks you’re a lying sack of SH*T!

Any form of martial law (shutting down the internet & talk radio, declairing a police state etc.) against the people will be seen as an act of treason! You said you ignored the 9/12 Tea Party Rally last year, and you said you ignored the 8/28 Rally a few days ago! These crowd numbers had to be a sober reminder...even for a dumba$$ like yourself, that you and the ruling class are sorely outnumbered!

We know that as a Marxist, you love chaos. But remember this dumba$$, YOU HAD BETTER BE ABLE TO CONTROL THIS CHAOS!

Trust us, you cannot lock up 200+ million citizens!

Pitcavage used to run the "Militia Watchdog" website, an anti-patriot knockoff of the SPLC which condemned everyone who condemned the Waco Massacre and the shootings at Ruby Ridge, among other abuses of government power.

His meme has made the big time.

BTW, it was interesting to note the "Black Panthers" were NOT listed in their little lexicon.

I’ve been a GOA member for a couple of years now so I guess I’m on the “list”!

A couple of weeks ago, a male nurse that I’ve never seen before, stopped by to check on my mother who is under hospice care in our home. He engaged me in polite conversation before leaving and out of the blue he asked, “where can I meet up with some militia people?” He has since quit that job without notice and left the area from what we understand, but it looks like I’ve been tagged.

GOA is a guns-rights, political organization, as opposed to the NRA, which is largely an educational outfit with some political concerns about guns. GOA, unlike NRA, tips to the right. (NRA tries to remain “bipartisan” by clamoring for any Democrat who doesn’t openly do everything they can to oppose gun ownership.) Founder Larry Pratt is also the founder of English First, which advocates English as the official language. It has 300,000 members, all of whom (unlike NRA) are members because they want to become politically active.

Even Wikipedia has no mud to sling at GOA. My guess is they’re playing eighteen degrees of seperation: GOA = Larry Pratt = English language movement = Immigration reform movement = Minutemen = alleged vigilantes.

I have been under surveillance three times that I know of. Once was when I contacted the CIA and volunteered for mercenary duty in Cambodia in 1969, before we were supposed to know that the US was involved there. Once was for joining a gun club in New York in the mid 70s that was on the FBI watch list, and the other was when my brother killed the two game wardens in 1981.

I don’t remember seeing black helicopters, but multiple tails, blacked out running lights, and home break ins were common place.

In all these posts, there isn't one mention of Second Amendment Sisters, which was born right here on FreeRepublic. That's a bit disheartening........

We continue to grow, and we have taught literally hundreds of women across the country to shoot, as well as being included with the "big boys" at certain speaking events....

We're holding a ladies to learn to shoot day on Oct 2, hear Austin, Tx, if anyone is interested in joining us. We provide everything needed: guns, ammmo, one on one certified firearms trainers--everything that is needed for a fun and educational day at the range.

If you're interested in coming to this event, please freepmail me.

Larry Pratt has close ties with white supremacist groups????????????????????????????????????

Um... okay, on that note, my response to the DOJ is YOU ARE FULL OF BULLSH*T. I’ve known Larry for a LONG time as in I used to sit with him in the Fairfax office getting mailers out for VCDL over 10 years ago. He is not a white supremacist nor condones their actions and anyone that says he is is a flat out liar. The DOJ is no longer a legitimate law enforcement agency, they are nothing more than a propaganda machine spreading deceit.

This is a hit piece by DOJ, nothing more and it’s political. I openly call for an investigation into the agenda behind this bogus bunch of BS from DOJ. You’re being called out DOJ... Prove me wrong you fraking liars.

They have the Anti-defamation League on their list.

They also list:

Oath of Office on their list of terms.

Oath of office: An oath public officials take that “patriots” claim binds them to the patriots’ view of duty. Perhaps the most common charge leveled by anti government extremists is that their public officials are violating oaths of office if they enforce an unpopular law, rule, or regulation.

Another group on The List:

AntiAbortion movement: A very large movement dedicated to stopping the practice of abortion, which remains one of the foremost political issues in the United States. Extremists have assassinated abortion physicians and their employees in the United States.

The term Cracker even made the list.

Though out the list the word "Patriot" is used over and over in derogatory manner.

With their usual audacity and ignorance 0bama's DOJ just handed Gun Owners of America a nice present, free advertising and a great tool for recruiting freedom loving American gun owners.
