VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. (AP) -- President Barack Obama had a simple task for his first morning on vacation: shoot over to a Martha's Vineyard bookstore to fill out his daughters' summer reading list and grab himself a novel.
Easier said than done.
His SUV, part of a 20-vehicle motorcade, passed through a cordon of Massachusetts State Police motorcycle officers, in a protective cocoon of Secret Service agents.......

They knew they were going there for a year. Why not order their reading material on Amazon and have it sent to them? (I know the answer.) What is the carbon footprint of 20 SUVs driving to a store for a few books?
I think since RR got shot that a ambulance has been standard in the presidential motorcade.
However I don't seem to remember other presidents making quite as big a production out of going from one spot to another as this person does.

Is this some lame effort to make us feel sorry for Obama. It won't wash. Many of us work our asses off at real jobs while this worthless turd and his wife live high on the hog. And the insult to us is we are paying for it.
What a thoughtful use of all the resources of both the taxpayer-funded POTUS contingent and Martha's Vineyard itself!
Anything to give his daughter the ordinary, real life experience of going to a simple bookstore in a 20 car motorcade with angry/waving people and press looking on.
Hope he leaves soon.
Waah! What a big fat baby and AP covering for him. If Obama didn’t want all the necessary precautions that come with being a President, maybe he should have stayed in Chicago where he was wanted.
