“Just snake a tube down her nose, and I’ll be there in four or five hours.”
Time sure does fly...
Alas to die, knowing that your contribution to the world is as the Ty-D-Bol man.
Oddly enough, the current issue of Sports Illustrated has an article on the 30th anniversary of “Caddyshack.” Unfortunately, the writer didn’t bother to track down Mr. Resin, who held his own with an accomplished group of scene-stealers. My favorite “Dr. Beeper” moment in the film is when Resin tells a critically-ill patient to “take some aspirin and call him later,” so he can squeeze in his golf game.
Truly one of the funniest movies of all time. According to the SI article, Bill Murray ad-libbed most of his dialogue; Rodney Dangerfield did two lines of coke on the producer’s desk at his audition (Don Rickles was originally favored for the role), and “the gopher” was inserted to give the movie some semblance of continuity. When filming was complete, Harold Ramis (the director) and the producers realized that the scenes didn’t work particularly well together, so they decided to expand the gopher’s role.
RIP, Dr. Beeper, and say hello to Judge Smails. Incidentally, the making of Caddyshack was exasperating for Ted Knight, who played the judge. Knight tried to stick to the script while everyone else was ad-libbing at will.
I remember the Ty-D-Bol man, but with the unfortunate influences of modern culture, the first thing that came to my mind was, "79... that's pretty old for a rap artist."
