Everybody on here is always talking about how we're going to win back seats in the 2012 mid-term elections. Sad to say that probably won't matter when the Democrats pass health care, as well as cap and tax, because at least I certainly know they will, as they have filibuster-proof majorities in both Congress and the Senate. If it means they don't attain the majority for 20 or 30 more years, then they'll probably do it.
I say this because nobody dared do anything after the Bonus Army fiasco, which was led by one of everybody's favorite generals, General George S. Patton. Now here's a guy many Conservative people love, who marched against and opposed his brothers-in-arms because president Herbert Hoover told him to. Two more well-known and loved men were Douglas MacArther and Dwight D. Eisenhower. This is something everybody already knows though, which I'm aware of. I'll get to that in a bit.
Then comes the National Firearms Act of 1934, which causes fully automatic firearms and suppressors to be tightly regulated and highly taxed.
Then U.S. Attorney General Homer S. Cummings recognized that firearms could not be banned outright under the Second Amendment, so he proposed restrictive regulation in the form of a high tax and federal registration.
This man should have been run out of office. The first in a series of getting around the Constitutional bounds placed on government, which would not end because the sole goal of government is to grow into a larger and more powerful entity.
Then there's Gun Control Act of 1968, the Firearm Owner's Protection Act of 1986, which Ronald Reagan signed into law, even though it contained the Hughes Amendment, thanks for nothing Ronnie. There have been all sorts of laws and regulations passed for over 100 years, that states have not said 'No'. States are saying 'No' to the federal government for the first time in nearly 150 years. Folks, that's not gonna cut it.
Now the government is going so far as to tell us what kind of light bulb we can own, never mind forcibly being taken out of our own health insurance plans, and being forced to pay triple for electricity with cap and tax, which will pass. Think it won't? Go over history and read about all the times we've marched on DC with torches and pitchforks, near fuming steam coming off of our heads because we're so angry. That sound you hear is near silence, because sort-of woke up in 2007, with millions flocking to DC in September of 2009. Sorry to say, but that won't be enough either.
The Founding Fathers reminded us that we still hold the ultimate say in what happens to us, that we may still control our future. They certainly did in their time. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, maybe because they were at war, maybe they were tired, were nowhere to be found in 1932, when their brothers in arms needed them most. They were nowhere to be found in 1934, when somebody deemed it important enough for the government to control firearms and suppressors, when all that needed to be done was for police to practice more than they did so they could've actually shot down robbers.
It's easy to understand what I'm trying to say. We needed Henry Bowman in 1932. Sadly, he didn't rise up.
If we want to restore our government to what it was when it was founded, quite frankly, we need to become the Founding Fathers.
We are in dire straits today. Personally, I see only one more option left.
The book where Henry Bowman is the lead character is the FBI’s most hated book. I bought the book the year it was released. When it came out, it replaced the Turner Diaries as the most hated.
If you are too tired to be on the front lines, then serve me in a support function.
I think you are wrong. We WILL recover but it will take a long time.
By the way, the mid term elections are in 2010, not 2012.
I’ll run myself dead when I have to. I understand I likely won’t die of old age.
Also, what would be the problem with reversing health care and cap and tax if Obama isn’t elected to a second term?
It’s funny you bring up the subject, Obama in many ways could be good in the long run for all Americans. Maybe he is far more devious than we could have ever imagined. It is looking to me more and more every day that his true intent is to wipe out the democrat party and socialism altogether! He is really a masterful capitalist and he knows if he does all of this ridiculous change all at once; he will in no time destroy the whole socialist movement in just a few years.
Or he has absolutely no idea what he is doing but it will still have the same result.
Then don’t come to the battle (political or otherwise) pre-defeated.
I think that is why Obama got elected. He misrepresented the type of change he would bring. I did not vote for him because I noticed that he was just giving lip service to whomever he was speaking to. Hopefully someone will come along and take apart this monstrocity of a Government we created. End all of these crooked Acorn-like companies we’ve been throwing money at. Put ALL of the crooked politicians on trial, and start over.
I'm rather surprised -- Atlas Shrugged is selling like hotcakes, but no one seems interested in bringing "Unintended Consequences" back into print.
I’m not coming already defeated. I’m just looking out at today and typing what I think.
Now let's see what pics are posted in the MSM for the day of prayer to the moon-god. (aka islamic day of prayer). My guess is that if its even a moderate size crowd we'll see plenty, unless of course there's an "incident", in which case they'll be a news blackout on the event.
Just one man's prediction.
Well - I cannot view the future as a failure - I make things happen so to view the future in this light is to give in to the thought that I no longer can affect the outcome of anything. Two quotes I very strongly identify with are both from unknown (or unknown to me) authors
Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill
The best anti-tank weapon in the world is an infantryman with an imagination
Henry Bowman, central AR standing by.
On target
Ouch
