CARACAS, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Venezuela will pull the plug on 29 more radio stations, a top official in President Hugo Chavez's government said on Saturday, just weeks after dozens of other outlets were closed in a media clampdown.

Infrastructure Minister Diosdado Cabello closed 34 radio stations in July, saying the government was "democratizing" media ownership. Critics say the move limits freedom of expression and has taken critical voices off the airwaves.

Looks like Hugo has put the “Fairness doctrine” in effect in Venezuela. That’s just something commies always do. Commies are too thin skinned and can’t take the heat.

Yes it must be called localism. Glenn will have a field day with this one as well.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/seton-motley/2009/08/28/video-fcc-diversity-czar-chavezs-venezuela-incredible-democratic-revol

We have written often about Mark Lloyd, who has since his July 29 appointment been reveling in the position created just for him, “Chief Diversity Officer” at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

What Mark Lloyd says about Chavez is more than a mite frightening:

“In Venezuela, with Chavez, is really an incredible revolution - a democratic revolution. To begin to put in place things that are going to have an impact on the people of Venezuela.

“The property owners and the folks who then controlled the media in Venezuela rebelled - worked, frankly, with folks here in the U.S. government - worked to oust him. But he came back with another revolution, and then Chavez began to take very seriously the media in his country.

“And we’ve had complaints about this ever since.”

What exactly is “localism”?

localism
1 A phrase or pronunciation that is peculiar to a particular locality

2 A partiality for some particular place

Yes, it is like a Czar. And, by chance, Chavez has the same strategy to end the voices of radio he does not like. Dang, that is strange, huh? NOT

We got a Chavez commie in the Oval Office.

I think it might be the other way around. Obama made this move in the name of diversity in democracy before Chavez announced the same plan to get rid of speech he hates.

Van Jones resighned tonight over his staments and KNOWN ties to communism. I don’t think he was an outlier,I think he was typical of this administration.

Here’s a bit more from Mark LLoyd - diversity czar at the FCC, who’s drafting new regulations to basically end talk radio.

He’s opposed to private ownership of media - a fan of Chavez who holds up as a model the type of press control and harassement that Chavez is implementing in Venezuala. Here’s a quote from his book “Prologue to a Farce” -”It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration, Harold Innis may have been only slightly exaggerating when he wrote, “Freedom of the press has become the great bulwark of monopolies of the pressAt the very least blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communication policies.”

HE HAS GOT TO BE THE NEXT TO GO!!

I agree. tho Van Jones had the most controversial past, Mark Lloyd and Cass Sustein wield more power than Jones did. Mark Lloyd seems to love Chavez and approves of his his taking over of the media.

“Mark Lloyd and Cass Sustein wield more power than Jones did”

I’m not too sure about that. Van Jones through his Apollo Alliance led a coalition of community agitators, environmentalists and unions drafted much of the porkulus bill. Check out these two sites...

But it doesn’t matter who has more power - they both have/had way too much and given their marxist and anti american-value beliefs, they both need to go, along with a slew of others.

GET THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OUT AND WATCH THESE ROACHES SCATTER. AND GET YOUR FOOT READY TO STOMP ON ‘EM ON THEIR WAY OUT.

Commies use big, populous, vague words to confuse the populace and interpret as they please later.

“Localism” could be used to convey “we’re with you” to local communities and community organizers, aka, commies.

An example: 0b0z0’s commies will “transform” a radio station to “serve the local community” by replacing nationally syndicated programs to “local” programs. Thus, for the “good of the local community” the Limbaughs, Hannitys, and Levins will be replaced!

This will avoid any talk about the First Amendment.
