Well, “alot” truly is NOT in the dictionary, but most dictionaries recognize the informal usage of “alright.”

Did you know that if you look up the word ‘redundant’ in the dictionary, it says ‘see: redundant’?

Trying to determine if this is a worse pet peeve than the self-appointed capitalization nazi that pops up on alot of threads. Oh, come on! I've GOT to win the coveted Pet Peeve award!

Alot is a word. I just typed it and now I'm reading it back. I do that alot. Alot of dictionaries are obsolete before they're even published.
I get the urge alot of times to post vanities but I resist the urge. Believe me it happens alot.

Sad to say, I hardly notice it anymore as an error, which is a danger sign that it’s actually entering legitimate usage. *shudder*
