LONG LEGGED BEASTIE
SWAMPSNIPERPRESS ^ | July 4, 2009 | swampsniper

Posted on 07/04/2009 6:55:31 PM PDT by SWAMPSNIPER

"From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night, good Lord deliver us." (Old Cornish prayer.)

They couldn't have meant these critters, they are good natured to a fault.

Maybe she is what the old Cornish were praying about! They used to burn witches!

Great shot, SWAMPSNIPER. Where were you? I mean how far away? Did you have to wait long, or was it serendipity that you saw the stork posing? Your pix are so cool.

Because if they lifted the other foot, they would fall down.

About 35 or 40 feet, but it’s not hard to get closer to them. This one was on the seawall at the county boat ramp. If you pay attention to the tides and the solar/lunar tables you can get a rough idea where the marsh birds will be. After heavy rains a lot of them will move inland to hunt the ponds and ditches, and you can usually find all the models you need out here. Now, the action is along the coast.

Your pics always make me smile, thank you. Wish I could get a pic like that, I bought an expensive camera but I think the problem is mine (I do like to blame the camera though).

Thanks, I love taking them

If I can help let me know. It really just takes a knowledge of basics and some practice.

Could that old prayer have been referring to a present day horror? I refer, of course, to He Who Shall Not Be Named, A.K.A. “The Long Legged Mack Daddy” as Rev. Manning puts it.

Do you use film or digital? Although I do have a little digital camera, I mostly use my Nikon N-80. I’m thinking about getting a Digital SLR one of these years.
