I was hoping for an American flag at the end...they could’ve done it!

Extra

I caught onto it long before My Humans could
That my front and hind paws had more digits than they should
Plus more tiny claws, but that just comes with the territory
Which creates the nugget around which to build an intriguing story
Of lots of mysterious scratches found on anything that was not nailed down

Regardless of where they were found in relationship to the ground
Oh, yes. The lion's share were discovered at a Kitten's height
Before I grew much more clever and decided to set my sights
Ever higher, due to my exceptional climbing dexterity
Aided by my wider paws and sharp claws ready at my beckon call

I made easy work of the large sunny rooms at each end of the hall
To make deep marks covertly that can be seen by only me
Until My Pretty One suddenly decided to go on a Spring cleaning spree
Which instantly made me the focus of too much undue attention

With too many counting of my fingers and toes to mention
When My Humans could have looked up 'Polydactyl' in a big Dictionary
They would have known that my 'condition' is not that extraordinary
So we seem to have split the difference with my claim to fame
By giving me the peculiar moniker of 'Extra' as my name

REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!

Sgt. Joshua W. Soto, USA, KIA 16JUN2009

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

God Of Our Fathers

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace!
We who remain hold you in high honor.
Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct;
We who remain keep this place sacred.
Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades;
We who remain keep the watch.
Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nation’s call;
We who remain press the fight forward in your name.
Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden;
We who remain have taken up the torch.
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

Wish they would stay young and innocent......but like puppies and kittens, they grow up - and the world is theirs for the taking.

Sweet graphic and poem, ladies!

Terrific poem and graphic.

I printed it out to present to 2 of our sons-in-law at our Great Family Gathering tomorrow.

Thanks

They must synchronize the lights....I imagine they work it out in a program first and I’d say it takes a long time to do that with a lot of practice. I thought it was pretty neat though. Like I mentioned to Luv, it would have been nice to have had an American Flag at the end, but I don’t guess that is politically correct anymore. We might insult those students from another country...makes one’s blood boil! Our country, Our Flag! Love it or Leave it!

The lights have to all be wired to respond to a computer program like folks do whe their Christmas lights. Humans can’t be that accurate, especially college students doing fun stuff.

The One I Called A Weed

Within my garden the roses grow,
so beautiful and bright.
With so many from which to choose -
where did the butterfly alight?

On the yellow dandelion, of course.
That's where she stopped to rest.
Of all the fragrant flowers ...
it's the one she liked the best!

The one I distained as obnoxious.
The one I considered an ugly sight.
This Painted Lady favored it the most!
This blossom brought her delight.

The flower that was most desired.
The one for which I had no need.
Was chosen above all the others.
The one I called a weed.

~~~~~~
Now there is a moral here.
I know it may seem contrite.
But in the search of truth and wisdom.
Not to mention it - doesn't seem right.
Does this pretty, yellow flower
deserve greater respect and love?
Or was this winged goddess -
just a stupid bug?
So, when you feel disdain about you.
Recall this moral of - ‘who really knows?’
Just don't let them stunt your growth.
For your beauty - may truly outshine the rose.
