They need to sue Texas, too, because TX and CA were the first two states to grant instate tuition to illegals in 2001. That is hundreds of thousands of dollars that students from other states could have been spending in TX and CA, but those places were filled at instate prices by those who should not even be in the USA.
Soon, justice will be served.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think the law says that if they accept illegals at in-state prices they have to accept out-of-state citizens at in-state prices. It just says that the state can’t get federal college aid if they charge illegals less. You would need an Obama appointee in the Department of Education push the issue.

A lot of good FReepers live here in CA, including our founder. While I am sure we all support this lawsuit, it’s a huge, depressing SIGH for us as we will be bled once more.
If only the UC had just NOT admitted illegals, and taken a few more of these out-of-staters paying out of state tuition. DUH. Why must we always suck everything up for lousy illegals who don’t love this country, don’t care about this country, and are only here for the freebies?? Every which way we turn, we are accosted to pay for these freeloaders, and NO ONE WILL PUBLICLY ADMIT IT.
When can we ever turn around this sinking state? WHEN?

The suit is going nowhere unless the supreme court hears it. Even then, I am not sure how the supreme court will rule. The issue is standing. Past courts have thrown out the suit on claims that students have no standing. If the students do not have standing, who has standing? Standing only impedes conservatives when seeking redress. Liberals never worry about standing even when they clearly are not directly involved. The disaster of the environmental laws is largely attributed to granting standing to groups that should not have standing.
