thats ok as long as they track who reads which digital version and sends that info to the govt.
Oh and they need to censor what you can read to comply with govt directives.
no other issues here, certainly no copyright issues.

Since you can pretty much watch any just released movie out there without even downloading anymore, books should be easy.

Google will absolutely try converting every book ever written to digital. Just as long as said book has nothing to do with American History, the Constitution or Conservatism.

Their effort needs a catchy name — may I suggest Project Gutenberg?

Their effort needs a catchy name — may I suggest Project Gutenberg? Google will need to launch a lawsuit to get the Domain Name. Probably allege cybersquatting.

Actually, these will probably be targeted first. Then they will make “Liberal” use of the “find and replace” feature on their editor.

Yep, there was a settlement recently - back around the end of October. IIRC, Google paid a large fee and can digitize. That doesn’t mean the books are available, though. What it DOES mean is that a Google book search will find the book when someone searches on a string matching content and then offer the book for sale if you have a sales arrangement with Google. Amazing research potential, essentially giving you a complete electronic index of entire libraries.
