Tips story: Fact or Fiction

I heard this story and can't find it anywhere please fill in my blanks. " Sitting in a restaurant, the server, a young man wearing an Obama tie, the person dining told the young man - your tip because you are wearing an Obama tie and he believes in spreading the wealth - I'm going to take down and give it to the homeless man on the corner. Since you are voting for Obama you need to know that the money you earn is not yours and it needs to be spread to those that need it more." Was this on Rush, Hannity or where? I heard it this week.

Internet story. But I did it last week to a server who got in my face about Obama. I gave her $45 tip to a homeless guy with and Obama sign and he said “$45 is that all?”. No kidding. Oh and since the owner of the restaurant is a friend of mine she is looking for a job.

BTW it is posted here in several threads.

Here’s the one that was sent to me:

Yesterday on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed.

Once in the restaurant I noticed that my server had an “Obama 08” campaign button pinned to his tie. Again I laughed at the manner in which he had given away his political preference — just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server — and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need—the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside because I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful

At the end of my rather unscientific experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn ....... even though the actual recipient was in greater need of the money.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I believe it started from WLW700 radio in Cincinnati.

Host Mike McConnell has a serial caller named Nick who is a waiter in Cincinnati. The caller is an ultra-lib who thinks everyone owes him a free ride.

Either Nick said it happened to him or McConnell asked him if he would think it fair if the situation were to happen to him.

The dialogue started about three weeks ago.

McConnell talks about it regularly now.

You should have gone back into the restaurant and shared the homeless guy's joy with the server. You should have also reminded the server that if Obama were there he would have chastised the server for "uh, uh, turning, uh, selfishness into, uh, a, uh, virtue."
