The fiercely ugly Atlantic wolffish, whose powerful jaw can reputedly break a broom handle, looks more like an underwater thug than a fish in distress - but scientists say this "Tasmanian devil with fins" is in rough shape.
Today, the environmental advocacy group Conservation Law Foundation will petition federal officials to add the US population of wolffish, also known as ocean catfish, to the endangered species list.

Buried in the story(naturally) is the argument against adding to the list
The wolffish in action at article(yikes!)
Gee, what a coincidence. Offshore drilling reopened today.
That’s one bad a$$ looking fish, coming from the catfish family, he’s probably pretty darn tastey.
Given that offshore rigs become artificial reefs and are great fish habitats, that’s a non-issue. Of course, that won’t stop the greenies from distorting reality to misinform the masses.
I was going to say how delicious they must be as well. But think how much better they would taste if they were considered endangered.
BTW - I have always wondered how an environmentalist or even scientist can figure out where all of these fish are in the ocean. They have a hard enough time counting polar bears where there is no place to hide in an area that is tiny compared to the ocean.
It can be the bsis for endless lawsuits to prohibit drilling if the fish is listed as threatened.
From the article...
“Rich Vellante, executive vice president and executive chef of Legal Sea Foods, said wolffish brings excitement to the dining table. His restaurant has been serving it for about six years. “It does have a pleasing sweetness, a mildness to it,” Vellante said.”
Mmmmmmmmm.................wolffish
No Helen Thomas pic yet?
Tough little bastard. It eats a sea urchin, spines and all.
Now now, we can’t go around killing things because they are ugly. I mean Helen Thomas has some good qualities, somewhere I think. Maybe.
