Hurricane Ike, you know, the new weather disaster controlled by George Bush, came all the way up through OHIO.

Sunday afternoon my power went out, "they" say it is because of the 75 MPH winds and tree limbs taking out lines. That is what "they" want you to believe.

Bush is using this to disinfranchise Ohio voters. I just know it. I think the Obama people and the DU and daily KOs should look into this.

And just because my power came back on last night around 5:00pm only means the following, it is because the Trucks sent down to Texas were recalled to help up here, so now Bush is "Messing with Texas" too.

I went 2 days total without electricity, I had to make coffee on my grill and have burgers for breakfast. And take 2 cold showers in that time. Now I will have less propane for the coming cookouts and will have to pay more to fill it, I lost my Miricle whip and some sour cream also higher now.

George Bush is COSTING Me money with his evil weather control. And hardship, and somehow Chaney is involved. Actually it is probably the VP's machine straight from Haliburton.

We need to act. Do not vote for George Bush and Dick Chaney.

Oh wait they are not running.

GO Sarah Palin GO.

hehehehehe

On a serious note, I have relatives who were in Ike’s path, they told them to have at least two weeks supplies. Sadly, my family members didn’t listen and now they are trying to find water ,,, sheesh, you would have thought they would listen, I called the days before and warned, it did no good. They say the radio is saying weeks before water and power restored. Gladly they hooked up with NG-FEMA trucks distributing water and ice in their neighborhoods today ...

Hurricanes, you are on your own, be prepared.

My power is still out and they are saying it may remain out though the weekend.

However, we really have no need for FEMA. The state should have enough emergency resources to handle something like this. We are better off if the Feds would quit wasting so much money through FEMA.

When we first moved to WA State, our power went out for five days, the temperature was 15 degrees, the wind was 90 mi/hr and we had 15 inches of snow, the wind, snow and temperature lasted for 2 full days, followed by a warming which changed the snow to rain, which added two inches of ice on top of the 15 inches of snow. We had two more snow storms which brought power outages of 2-4 days that winter.

No one offered to help. We didn’t need gov’t help.

Amen. The billions wasted on the hapless FEMA should be divided on a per capita basis among the 50 states to handle disasters. However, the federal government should stipulate that if the money-grubbing politicians use these federal funds for vote buying, they will be prosecuted and jailed for fraud. That’s the only way they would keep their hands off the Disaster Fund.

We don't need help either.

There might be some people in our area that do need help because of damage to roofs and such, but simply being without power is serious inconvenience, but not a serious emergency unless you have some kind of medical reason for needing power.

If I was on a well and didn't have water it would be a bigger deal.

My biggest problem is that I've had to throw out a lot of frozen food. I had most of a 1/4 cow in the freezer along with some other stuff. We had some extended family that also didn't have power come over and we all had steak on the grill so it didn't go to waste. However there's a lot more hamburger that is going to waste if we don't get power soon.

Here is NE Louisiana, in the wake of Hurricane Gustav, we still have 3 feet of water in our cotton field and just about all early soybeans have been destroyed. Businesses and homes flooded, fortunes and futures ruined for some. No news coverage -- no FEMA -- neighbors and family are helping neighbors and families and, for the most part, people are not waiting for the government to bail them out (pun intended).

If this was New Orleans or Chicago the news anchors would still be broadcasting live, but the devastation here is not even noticed.

Yesterday, my family praised the Good Lord that we were not experiencing the horrible situation in Galveston. The old story about the man worried that he had no shoes until he met another man with no feet was upfront in our hearts and minds.

We had no heat, or water because pipes froze in the attic.

It's well known that only Karl Rove has a weather machine.

He must be dealt with first.

Yes, we have friends/family who got hit. Mr. Its just got back yesterday from taking them supplies and gas. Amazing how many people refuse to plan ahead. They will be without electricity for four weeks. There are kids at school here who have come up from there.

We were supposed to catch some of Ike but nary a drop of rain. Even I got things together, had water, batteries, and candles on hand, got the dishes and laundry done, have a makeshift solar oven and grill, and the pantry is always stocked.
