The Dallas Housing Authority begins accepting online applications today for court-ordered rental assistance available to black residents who want to live in predominantly white neighborhoods.
The DHA is required to offer the vouchers only to blacks as part of a court settlement to address past discrimination....

I wonder if any black people are showing up in the rich areas, saying “gee, this is a nice area you got here, would be a shame if the neighborhood took a dive, wouldn’t it? If you were to pay me $1000 I could well decide to move somewhere else .... “
What if a person from Appalachia wants to move to Dallas? Talk about damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Yes only one race is officially poor.
Maybe they will also give vouchers to the white people who want to live in a black neighborhood in Section 8 housing.
Will avalanch if the chosen one (aka B.H.O.) attains higher office.
Sounds like a Saturday Night Live skit

WTF????
Reparations are coming if Obama is elected.
There is a bill introduced by John Conyers in the past few Congress, to study and examine the impact of slavery on American society, and on the descendents of slaves. And that impact includes what happened after slavery up to the present time.
That bill is officially just to study the impact of slavery and make recommendations, but I think we all know that the recommendations will be that the appropriate remedy is reparations to be paid. If Obama is elected and the Dems. in Congress know the bill will be signed into law, they will do it.
I find it very ironic that we’re navel gazing about slavery reparations, when there is strong evidence that slavery continues in some parts of the world. Why don’t they work toward ending slavery and involuntary servitude in parts of the world where it is still tolerated, rather than punish an America that abolished slavery, and eventually abolished legal segregation and discrimination?
My thoughts exactly. And I loved how they buried this story as a blurb in the "Regional Roundup" section.
Um, did I miss something? What court settlement are they talking about?
Sounds like an April Fool's joke.
Sadly, I don't think it's either.
As others have said, this country will burn if that comes to pass.
I want a voucher for a suite in the governor’s mansion. Only seems fair that politicians should have to share their housing too.
Excuse me, is that not a bit stereotypical? I'm speaking as one who is in the middle of a move from a nice middle class town in the Appalachians in MD, to a nice middle class town near San Antonio.
You have exactly made my point. Financially poor whites in Appalachiahave been ignored during America’s “welfare movement.”
Yes Johnny, two wrongs do make a right! Sigh....
As long as you have affirmative action, quotas, apologies and deeds not words, the black community will never live up to their full potential and always have a sense of entitlement.
Ping.
My Irish ancestors were victims of "past discrimination". Can I have some free stuff too?
Need you ask???
Only one is allowed to be a perpetual victim.
Wonder how they will qualify for the loan with all the new strict income verification needed? This will be an interesting story to follow for some reporter who wants to see how “successful” it will be?
I was up in north TX earlier today... I would like a voucher for a nice little plot of land (2-3 acres) in Frisco or Prosper or Celina... where can this NY "yankee," Roman Catholic, dyed-in-the-wool, Texas A&M Aggie, conservative (should be a "protected" class) sign up for one of them vouchers?
I also was in North Texas today and like you I would like the opportunity to live in that area. Yes, I’m white, but I am economically deprived compared to many in that area who have so much more than I do. I would like to live in a 4 bedroom home with a nice pool in McKinney’s Stonebridge development. Do you think the McKinney Housing Authority would want to help me?
“Maybe they will also give vouchers to the white people who want to live in a black neighborhood in Section 8 housing.”
They send those to a shrink for annalysis.
Only if you're 'Black' Irish. (ahem)
They may be willing to let you live there until they clean up the fire damage.
