Brit to be a grandad at 30

A JOBLESS 29-year-old is set to be one of Britain’s youngest GRANDPAS.

Dad-of-three Ged Fulton was just 14 when he became a dad.

But now his 15-year-old son Sean is expecting a tot with his 18-year-old lover.

And Ged will be 30 when the baby is born in November, making him one of the youngest grandparents in the world.

The former customer service worker said last night: “It hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m getting teased by my mates — but I’ve got no plans for a pipe and slippers yet.”

He said Sean was “showing a lot of maturity” and planned to get an apprenticeship to help support the tot.

Ged, of Greenock, Inverclyde, admitted he was devastated when he got Sean’s mum Audrey Hill pregnant at 18.

The couple have since split.

He said: “I’m a bit disappointed Sean has basically done the same thing as me. But I’m probably the best person to advise him.

"I think he’ll be a good father.”

This terrible situation can only be made worse if the chick decides to have an abortion. Ideally she will have nothing further to do with “dad” or “grampa” — they clearly have nothing much by way of wisdom to contribute to this poor kid.

Let’s hope Mum is smarter than the facts-to-date seem to suggest. Pray for the kid.

>” He said Sean was “showing a lot of maturity” ..” <

How’s that for maturity: your 15 year old son impregnates an 18 year old “lover”, plus the grandfather is jobless at 30...who also originally knocked up at 14...

This is probably Nancy Pelosi’s liberal portrait of a nuclear family.

I was teaching a tennis camp this past week. One of the girls was telling us about her 12 year old cousin who got a 13 year old girl pregnant near Chicago. He could be a granddad at 26 if his son follows his footsteps.

Well, this was probably fairly common — about 3,000 years ago.

Fortunately he doesn't have to. My mother was 16 when I was born but I don't have kids, one sister was 25 when her first was born and the other sister was 31 when hers was born. There was a lot of good influence in the family as a whole.

I was 45 when I became a grandpa, and I thought that was really young for that situation.

There are a bunch of grandmothers about that age where I live, but I don’t know about the grandfathers...in most of those families there are no men around.

I know it is or was fairly common in places like Appalachia, IIRC, Loretta Lynn did become a grandmother at 29, had her first kid at 14 or 15.

Well, at least they didn’t abort their babies. That shows more maturity than many teens unfortunately have.

It would be even more mature of the boy to marry his girlfriend. I hope he’s planning on doing that. It’s too late to undo the mistake he made having sex so young, but it’s not too late for him to turn his life around and be a responsible person now. I hope he succeeds at it.

That is true. I hope that the son deviates and learns from his fathers mistakes (well, he didn’t this time) BUT there’s still time to grow up, be a young father and learn responsibility at an early age.

They totally lack maturity as shown by their actions. They are not mature enough to raise children. Audrey Hill is an adult and should have left a minor alone. Seems she is guilty of statutory rape.

Wise words FRiend! I remember my GrandDad's advice to my Dad, and their combined advice to me, which was "keep your future in your pants", and I don't regret that advice for one moment.

How are you doing way down there this weekend? Enjoying yourself and taking it easy?

That's what I'm doing at the moment but of course "all things are subject to change", lol

Cheerz!

Well, I don’t know what the law is in England, but she’s only 3 years older than the boy, which usually makes it not statutory in the US, right? Plus she was probably 17 when she got pregnant, if she was 18 when she gave birth.

Of course they shouldn’t have been having premarital sex in the first place, but still a couple of teenagers making a mistake like that isn’t the same as a molesting adult taking advantage of a teen.

Maybe you’re right and they won’t be good parents, but at least they owe it to the child to try, instead of just killing it. I can’t blame them for that!

Your Dad was clearly a very wise man, my FRiend.

My Dad gave me similar advice, and I have followed it all my life, too. No regrets, just a couple of great kids at a time in life when my wife and I could raise ‘em properly. Married to the same woman for many years, she is my first wife and I don’t think there will be a second one.

Naturally, my kids have been given this same guidance. too.

That, and getting over a nasty flu. But it’s mid-winter here so that is all par for the course. It is a good weekend for relaxing.

Have a great weekend, mate!

The good news is that Sean’s main squeeze is not a 45 year old teacher who is beyond question guilty.

This guy is clearly an expert on that subject.

Sorry to hear that FRiend (I would have answered earlier but we experienced a power surge that left us in the dark for a while but now all seems to be 'back on line'), if that flu bug is still giving you fits come Monday, you might see about trying a supplement (health food store product) called 'Olive Leaf Extract', it's a powerful anti-toxin that will flush all sorts of nasty stuff out of your system, I had some severe sinus problems years ago, I took that stuff and inside of 2 weeks I was breathing freely without problems. If you do try it, start off with about (2) 500 mg capsules 3 times a day, morning noon and night with water on an empty or near-empty stomach. You might actually feel worse at first as the bad stuff starts to migrate it's way out but it won't hurt you.

Get well now! God Bless You and Yours! :)

IIRC, I read somewhere that Mary mother of Jesus was in her early teens when he had Him. But then, it was 2,000 years ago.

I am going to the Chemist (that’s what we call “Pharmacist” or “Drug Store”) this afternoon and give Olive Leaf Extract a good try. It sounds like just the ticket! Thanks!
