Or you were very lucky...
We had a television once.
“Freedom isn’t Free”
Turn it off. Stop whining.
If your great grandma had seen Brady Bunch, she would have called it immoral.
I was watching something about the supernatural last night on the Bio channel( whatever the hell that is) and during the commercial I saw a guy and a gal snuggled up in bed and a quick flash of a sign came across the screen advertising K-Y jelly....I couldn’t believe it, then I started to laugh and told my wife I wonder what Beaver Cleavers mom and dad would have to say about it..
I’m old now and have seen the decline of our nation from the days of world war two....The best thing I do to ease the pain is take walks in the woods and do a lot of good reading...
The fact that someone as rotten as the clintons could have garnished 18 million votes in a primary election says something about the state of the nation as I write this..
I will not argue. I had wonderful parents but honestly you don't have to be very good to be better then June or Carol.
Yes, their "advise" worked out on the show because it was scripted to work out. In real life it was trite.
And don't get me started on "Just wait until your father gets home" as a excuse for not dealing with your child's bad behavior on the spot.
Actually, besides “The Suite Life of Zac and Cody.” ours is more of a monitor for the PS3.
The purpose of “entertainment” today is to change social policy. Single motherhood, choice in sexual partners, and even to the cute little polar bear.
Circling the drain.
It died along with the "Standards and practices" network (not government) censor.
Anything goes these days.
The pecking order (and it’s been that way for nearly 20 years) is youngest kid is the “smartest” (or has the smartest mouth), then the mom, then an older teen who can be a goof sometimes, then dad who is always in the doghouse and inept.
It is true of sitcoms and tv commercials.
LOL. They should have called it "Herpestown".
Sounds about right. I miss “Father Knows Best.”
In our house, Mommy is executive, Daddy is enforcement, and little girls with smart mouths are in trouble. This is normally not an issue, but it occasionally gets reinforced when they try to imitate any of the behavior they watch on TV.
That's funny, I was around in the 60's and must have missed all the factory workers, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, construction workers, and farmers (other than Oliver Wendell Douglas) wearing suits to work.
I used to worry about our teen daughter watching MTV, and tried to limit that. She’s 20 now, and her favorite is ‘I Love Lucy’ re-runs!
What about the “Trojan” commercial with a barroom full of pigs until one buys aTrojan prophylactic...then he becomes a man and the girl just swoons over him...
Shows the IQ of viewers has fallen so sharply over the past few decades...
No, if the teen is an older boy, he is usually no good in school, girl hungry and a sports star. If the teen is a girl, she is almost a slut.
The only sit-coms I watch are Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and American Dad. The only other thing I watch are the 3 CSIs, NCSI and Numbers and sports. (and Special Report and Hannity's America, also).
Most of the shows did this!
If Hollyweird ever did a remake of 'My 3 Sons', or 'Leave it to Beaver' or 'Father knows Best' or even 'Crosby' - it would be about sex or drugs or worse.
Heck, two and a half men (it should be 3 retards living on the beach, IMHO) is totally UNWATCHABLE. (If I had that housekeeper - who told me off, she would be fired. The Neighbor who keeps on coming in - would be arrested, and if Jake was my son - I think 3 years in a boarding school should be fine.)
Most of the TV shows JUMPED THE SHARK. Bring back either a 'NEWHART', or 'Bob Newhart', shows that were funny because of the actors. Bill Engvil is ok.
